Want to meet a group playing board games? Every Thursday 19:45 in The FC Wellbeing Cafe

Hey everybody,

I'll be bringing Roll for the Galaxy along again. I'll then switch focus to a different game for a few weeks. Then another, etc.

I have a much friendlier introduction to the game:

Rahdo is great for getting a feel for games and most of the rules. He often gets the minor rules details wrong! (He corrects them in the description). But definitely good enough to sit and play.

Cheers

Who's around this week?

To state the obvious:

You don't HAVE to play th 'in focus' game. There will be loads of choice! Easy to pick up and play stuff too. The 'focus' game might not even make the table, depending on what people want to play. I just thought it would be a good idea to see the same game appear amongst it all for a few weeks at a time. Give everybody a chance to play it and re-play it if they want.

Looking like five of us this eve... Maybe not enough for Captain Sonar. Might be perfect for Scythe though, if you're up for the gargantuan task of teaching it..?!! It is a bit of a monster.

Ah shucks. Apparently it plays well with 6 so I'll bring it along in the off chance someone else turns up.

I'll bring Scythe. Like most worker placement games, it's just a matter of working through a few rounds having no idea what you are doing and gradually grokking it. I've only soloed it so far, but should be able to explain it all the same. See you about 8.30.

Hey All,

My In Focus game for the next few weeks will be Quantum. Teachable on th night. No need to watch any videos.

As always, it may or may not make the table - there will be plenty of choice.

Cheers

Brad

    • For these places to be good they have to be mega efficient: high volume high speed like the one in Camberwell next to Stormbird.  If you can't hit that sort of tipping point you end up having to cut corners and you enter a sort of death spiral.  The one at the south end of Lordship Lane near Joseph's is fairly hopeless.
    • It's my understanding that estate agents are obliged to put forward any offer to the seller made to them by the buyer. The decision to accept us up to the seller.  If you're in a chain and someone in the chain has the brass neck to threaten to pull out at the last minute unless you take their lower offer, you're in a very tricky position and the gazunderer knows that.  It's a really nasty thing to do but a crappy person will do it to save money.  That's why if you can be at the top of a chain by going into rented or some other temporary solution you're in a much stronger position to tell the gazunderer to take a running jump which is very satisfying.
    • Isn't it because any bladed item now needs to sold with a new set of legal conditions (age verification etc) which this forum doesn't have? Even if there's a tool to remove stones from a horses hoof, and a tiny pair of tweezers its still got a blade.
    • Yes, if you think they have been complicit in this. When you say you "had to" accept the lower price from your buyer, was that because of the timing of your purchase?
