Nanny educated to postgraduate level seeking p/t role

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

I am looking for my next role. I am looking for ideally no less than 20 hours a week but I am flexible. I have, in order of which they were gained, a BA (Hons) Performing Arts - 2.1, a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young Peoples Work Force, a postgraduate certificate in counselling skills and psychotherapeutic perspectives (all elements passed at merit/good pass) and I am working on my latest qualification which is another counselling certificate. I have first aid knowledge although my recent certificate needs updating. I am learning to drive and expect to pass my test in just over a month (but I can drive with ease and with distractions). I also have the usual A Levels and G.C.S.E'S all past at a high level. I am not OFSTED registered and do not drive yet.I have covered the well educated part and certificates

Who am I? - In very brief summary I am a natural care giver, highly empathetic, highly analytical and I have a large dose of self awareness and integrity. I strive to be the best in relationships I can be and learn from my mistakes. I see life as a continuous process of learning and therefore feel curiosity is important. I spend a lot of my 'free' time watching Ted Talks, Neuroscientists on YouTube and reading both my course books as well as books in other areas. I also spend my time updating myself about the best ways of relating to children and the best way to nurture their development. I very much subscribe to the idea that child carers should help support independence in children by helping children learn to do things like self regulate, assist them in decision making/planning and also other areas like managing conflict. I take a thoughtful approach to my job and the children don't necessarily leave my mind at the end of the day.

Nanny Duties - I am well capable of completing all nanny duties and adapting myself to fit the family and children. Each family I have worked with has been different and required different things. However, I can cook, clean, tidy and so on. I can also, where I feel you might benefit, suggest resources. I will also keep a comprehensive nanny diary as best as I can on a daily basis covering activities done, moods, behavior, details of illness and so on. In one family the children have also written in the diary!

What ages do I have experience with? - I have experience with children from 9 months - 8 years professionally. However, I do have experience non professionally with younger babies and also training. I have worked with children since 2007 and as a nanny from 2011.

What activities will you do? - It is a standard nanny reply to say parks, farms, soft play and playgroups. I have opted for all of those and others including museums, zoos, Brighton in one instance, South Bank, Theatres, Borough market (had a foodie child), Thames Clipper, Golden Hinde, and the Fire engine museum. At home I try best to follow the child's interests and engage with this however this has changed depending on the family, the ages of the children, the needs/talents of the children and what the children need to develop at present. I have supported reading, phonics, school projects, arts, crafts, messy play, baking and other developmental activities. But I am of the mindset that most daily life is an opportunity for context specific learning, any situation can be a learning opportunity. I also feel that my strength lies more in the social/emotional skills and activities surrounding this.

A little off topic information - I also have experience doing after school science workshops in schools. I have experience working with vulnerable/at risk children as a volunteer.

If you should have a position available please feel free to contact me on here or send me a PM. I can send you a CV and verbal references are available.

Warm regards,

Lauren

Hi Lauren, we are looking for a p/t nanny for our 10 month old baby and it sounds as though flexibility suits us all!

Is it be possible to obtain 2 references and are you Ofsted registered? We are based in Herne Hill and we are looking for weekday help. Perhaps we could meet up this week for a chat?

My number is 07901681374

Thanks, Suzie

HI Suzie,

Sorry for the delay in responding to you. But to answer your question, yes I can provide extremely good references, I am in contact with all my former families. I am not OFSTED registered. However, I am CRB checked and keep this up to date. Please feel free to message me for details.

Warmest regards,

Lauren

    • https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/celia-hammond-animal-trust-cat-crisis?utm_medium=CA&utm_source=CL the charity are raising money to enable them to neuter cats. There are so many cats already needing homes and they are at breaking point and in crisis.   “We have launched this emergency appeal to raise £230,000 to enable us to neuter, microchip and provide necessary supportive treatment to approximately 3,600 female cats during October, November, and December 2025. The aim is to tackle the cat overpopulation crisis by preventing the unnecessary birth of potentially tens of thousands of kittens in 2026. Cats are seasonal breeders who give birth to their kittens in Spring and Summer, so it is vitally important that this Autumn and Winter we neuter as many cats as possible before the next breeding season begins in early 2026.  How you can help  It costs us £45 to neuter a female cat using our own employed vets working at our London clinics (compared to local private vets which charge £150 - £250), and we are relying on animal lovers everywhere to support our emergency appeal to help tackle the cat overpopulation crisis.  Whether it is £10, £20, £30 or more, please donate whatever you can afford as we really need your help now, more than ever before. And if you live within a 30-mile radius of our Canning Town, Lewisham, or Brede centre and can provide a forever home for one or more of the cats and kittens in our care, please visit www.celiahammond.org/adopt-a-cat for details of the animals currently seeking homes”. Please support them with anything you can.
    • I grew up in SW London and London by and large has been somewhere as many say that you just need to keep your wits about you.  I've lived in various areas of SE London and moved to Dulwich quite recently. I do think post pandemic in particular though as though it's a bit edgier, I'm slightly more guarded than I was growing up in the 90s and 00s. I feel recently I'm much more likely to see unprovoked aggression and people to keep a distance from than I was before including in Dulwich around the area I live. I think austerity and cost of living changes have hit people quite hard.
    • I don't think it is simple as that.  Firstly many people born in the UK and legally allowed to live in the UK work for cash be it all of their working time or mates rates. Digital ID will make it easier to prove that someone is not legally allowed to work in the UK.  It will also help where a company has an agreement with an individual who may be legal but permitted to sell on hours to others.  And for those using fake driving licenses hiring mopeds to do deliveries. Obviously you have to catch them at it.  How much  of a deterrent this is to dodgy and reputable employers, and those with no right to work in the UK is unclear.  But that question will be asked. On a separate matter poll tax was an awful idea and many in the then Tory party were not in board.  This is not in the same league. And to go political how are you going to get your takeaways if there is nobody to make them and deliver them? Will be good for the more ethical companies.
    • A neighbour told me the same thing this morning. He could not understand why the bus has had to be diverted. There was plenty of room for buses to use.
