We paid for our nanny to become registered when she joined us so that we could use the childcare vouchers we get through work towards her salary. It was my understanding that the approximately ?100 fee paid for the registration, CRIB checks and first aid certificate. I had thought at the time that this was a one off charge, but the registration is up for renewal at a cost of ?103. Having just called Ofsted, they were unable to explain what this cost covers, as none of the checks are required to be re-done, unless our nanny's circumstances change.

We are now doing a share so the cost will be split, but this sum significantly eats into the tax benefits that childcare vouchers bring, that are absorbed by a greater number of people where families use childminders or nurseries instead.

Assuming this is not just me and others are required to pay this charge?

    • It should be easy enough to point out to anyone even thinking of voting reform that should they take power they will have no impact. And will make things worse.  And if people think politicians break promises now and reform are a breath of fresh air then they ain’t seen nothing yet  but they won’t really care about immigration if reform do win  uk used to be about law and order and now we have dim talking heads everywhere unchallenged going “leave the ECHR, stuff the judges, just do it!!”   like life is that simple sweeties
    • I have been reliably informed that it's not the same group.
    • my bet is it's the same group and no amount of talking to is going to make a difference.
    • Definitely not intended  to come across as "gleeful". Quite the opposite, because developments such as this will only encourage extreme right-wingers such as Reform. And heaven help us if they ever formed a government. It's incumbent on Labour to come up with an effective  policy to "smash the gangs" otherwise we are facing Farage and his gang further down the road.
