Side return extension - freeholder question

Hi,

I'm about to undertake a ground floor only side return extension.

I'm joint freeholder with the upstairs flat.

Has anyone undertaken a similar project - and could you share your experience as to whether you needed to get agreement or a licence to alter agreement with the joint freeholder.

Yes - I think any alteration to the layout of either flat will need consent from both freeholders.
