Hello -

I play regularly with a friend (two guitars, one voice - very occasional backing vocals) and we're looking for other musicians who might be interested to get involved. Pretty firmly in the folk/bluegrass/acoustic spectrum I guess, we play some covers (Wagon Wheel, Caleb Meyer, Matty Groves, Miss Ohio etc) and some of our own. We're OK I guess, nothing incredibly special (and not looking to 'make it'! ha) but really enjoying playing and would like to start doing more gigs (currently occasional open mics). I guess the dream would be to find a violinist familiar with these styles of music who happens to sing lovely harmonies and who wants to play every week or so but would love to hear from anyone interested. Mandolin could also work really well and another voice could really add texture too...

A high standard of wooly jumpers is a bonus.

Cheers

Pete

There are a number of folk musicians locally who go to sessions and/or a South East London folk orchestra.

If you contact me via http://www.thegooseisout.com I can send you details.

On my phone at the moment and don't have them to hand.

ETA: You are also welcome to come down any time and do an unbooked floorspot at any of our club nights, or a song at our Singaround. We have booked some people for "proper" gigs this way.

See our website for more details.

ETA (again!): A number of people have got together to sing and play after meeting at our Singarounds and some have gone on to make albums which have been well reviewed in the mainstream press :)

    • It is just a witch hunt. The estate agent has taken responsibility. FFS leave the poor woman alone. ETA: And stop calling her Rachel. You don't call Starmer Keir.
    • As said, why are you not eating humble pie for a non-story? I expect that scores of landlords are unaware or made mistakes in this territory.  And this is not just the Chancellor but a married couple.  It feels like you and others are taking joy in demonising her. The only question would be is the house suitable for renting out?  I expect it is, and if not that is up to Southwark to take action rather than keyboard warriors.  The only surprises are the expense of licensing - surely time for a thread on "is licensing a money maker for local authorities?".  I'm being facetious.  And that the cost of rental, which feels fairly reasonable based on this area. By all means go after rogue landlords.  Be my guest.  I was horrified to see some of the properties rented in London and beyond by family members.  Not all bad. Oh and another question.  Haven't I got better things to do than comment on this 'no story here' thread?  😁
