Should I only buy a laptop with an intel chip. The Acer 7540 17.3" widescreen Laptop has an AMD Athlon II processor M300 and I don?t know if I should care?

Nothing cosmic. Just microsoft office, Itunes, internet and some basic picture stuff.

AMD will be fine. I had one in my last Alienware gaming PC so they are really good, though Intel have caught up again in the gaming stakes.

Just get something half decent with a dual core and you'll be fine.
