Come and join us at 10.30am on Sunday 21st February for a not-too-strenuous ?work day?, doing some clearing up and litter picking. All are welcome. Meet on the old tennis court in the middle of Green Dale (the green oasis between the back of Sainsburys and the Green Dale footpath / cycle path). Don?t forget to wear suitable clothing and footwear. Hot drinks will be provided!

[Friends of Green Dale are a group of local people working to protect, conserve and enhance the natural environment of Green Dale for the benefit of people and wildlife.]

There are a number of bat roosts in the adjacent Dog Kennel Hill Wood ? and last summer's bat walk in conjunction with the London Wildlife Trust revealed bat activity in and around Green Dale.

Indeed, the formal ecological assessment carried out in 2014 by Land Use Consultants stated: "the site is likely to support a diverse assemblage of breeding and foraging birds, bats and invertebrates, in particular given the relatively unmanaged condition of the habitats and shelter provided by dense scrub around the Site boundary.?

It also tellingly said, "A detailed tree survey for bat roost potential was not undertaken during the Phase 1 Habitat survey. However, the trees along the southern boundary and eastern boundaries, particularly Lombardy poplars, were noted to support features which may be suitable to support a roost (features include holes, cracks or crevices that extend or appear to extend back to cavities suitable for bats)."

A postcode won't help, as it's not on a road :-) If you look on the flyer above you'll see a small map. The site can be reached either from Green Dale cycle/footpath of from the footpath leading from Abbotswood Rd/Burrow Rd to the Green Dale cycle/footpath. Here's a bigger version of the map:

    • Twenty plus years ago, the centre of Croydon was a fine place to work in, sadly times have changed, the Whitgift centre has gradually fallen to its knees, lots of shop closures and unlikely to be redeveloped given Croydon Councils financial situation.  Always preferred Croydon to Bromley and rarely go to either.

    • My daughter wants to get her ears pierced and I am looking for recent recommendations from experiences locally.  I have heard that Polished use a needle rather than a gun which seems to be the general advice nowadays, but I remember my own experience at a similar age with a piercing gun being quick, easy and problem free.  I'm looking for somewhere that will have the skills to put my child at ease and provide a professional service with proper aftercare advice.  Many thanks
    • Looking for a Seamstress to alter a dress for a legal ceremony (it is also a beautiful dress, so would be disappointed if it got ruined). Looking to adjust the neckline, so need someone who can support altering of design, as well as adjusting general measurements. Any recommendations are so appreciated, thanks! x
