Hi you Lovely East Dulwich Residents & Friends further afield,

A group of local volunteers are running a weekly Tuesday coffee morning at Lordship Lane Baptist Church (LLBC) for the local community. They offer a cup of tea/coffee some cakes/biscuits and a chat/some board games. As "All are welcome" they have a range of people attending of varying ages.

They run a clothes bank and plan to do various other activities such as a Knitting & crocheting club/"Film Tuesdays"/Silver Surfers etc. to engage the people attending. They desperately need the following (good quality please) items:

Kitting/crocheting needles

Knitting wool

Prams/Pushchairs

Baby carriers

Travel cots

Baby clothes

Winter clothes - babies/children/women & men

Laptops/Desktops - Do you know any companies/organisations who could donate these for their "silver surfers"?

TV with disc facilities for their "Film Tuesday" & exercise class

Copies of classic films-12 Angry Men/Casablanca etc.

Plants/herbs for their planned therapy garden/help of a local gardener

I offered to post a message for them so please pm me to let me know if you have any of the above items or if you can help in other ways e.g. could you become a monthly/quarterly/yearly "Friend" of Friends & Neighbours - could you provide their monthly teas/coffees? Or why not pay them a visit and see what they do and offer your donations directly.

I love a good imitative and I know they will welcome your help and I thank you on their behalf for this in advance.

As I can't volunteer at present with them I have become a "Monthly Friend" of "Friend & Neighbours" and will help

with their publicity. Can anyone print their flyers/do a banner?

Let's make a difference together in 2016!

Laura

They desperately need pushchairs. Three ladies who attend have given birth in the last

2 weeks so they have given 2 baby carriers but are still looking for pushchairs....

Anyone out there with a pre-loved pushchair that they no longer need?

Hi there,

"Friends & Neighbours" would really appreciate any donations you can make.

Has anyone got a double buggy they would like to swop with one of the mums who is due to give birth in the next couple of weeks?

Thank you,

Laura

    • I didn't say wedge it "slightly" open. I meant to wedge it fully open.
    • I have a rescue Spanish greyhound (galgo) from the charity mentioned above. You can contact Greyhounds in Need or one of the more local Kent greyhound rescue charities. They are fantastic family dogs. They do love walkies 2 or 3 times a day but they actually don't need to be walked too far and then they will happily loaf around on the sofa being very chill. They are brilliant with kids but not recommended if you own a cat as they have a strong prey drive. They also should be kept on the lead in local parks. They prefer to be around other sight-hounds (well my one does) and there are loads of local sighthound owners in Peckham, Crystal Palace etc and a very lively WhatsApp group that is brilliant if you need dog sitting as you can usually find someone to do that for free in return for you looking after the dog at a later date etc.
    • @Jenijenjen I assure you we are always polite and friendly too! Which is why the behaviour we have been receiving is so frustrating. The kids always leave her with a “Thank you have a lovely day”  Our concern is leaving the gate slightly wedged doesn’t stop the action of slamming it open and closed…still leading to damage
    • If you're talking about who I think you are, I find them more exuberant than rude and usually smiling and polite. But then, I'm usually smiling and polite to them. Can you not wedge open your gate when you're expecting them?
