akc74
I've just started doing some work with a local charity and social enterprise called the Bike Project, and I thought it might be of genuine interest to fellow forumites. They take donations of old bikes (for kids and adults) and then qualified mechanics make them good as new (or nearly!) and they sell them to fund the charity - which donates bikes to refugees, to help them get around London, where as we all know transport can be prohibitively expensive. I thought some of you would be interested in this, if you are thinking of selling on an old bike but could justify giving up the cash. It's also a good place to buy a new bike given how quickly the kids grow out of them! There was an article about it in the Standard the other day and you can read more about it here: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/denmark-hill-charity-appeals-for-bikes-to-donate-to-londons-refugees-a3178816.html Their workshop and drop off point is on Crossthwaite Ave, SE5, just off Red Post Hill, and near Bessemer, and the shop is here: http://shop.thebikeproject.co.uk/collections/bikesPlease feel free to ask any questions. Thanks in advance for your support. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/94527-passing-on-old-bikes-for-a-good-cause/ Share on other sites
