Hi there,

Kings hold twice monthly drop-in sessions held on the first and third Tuesday of the month. You just meet at the Nightingale Birth Centre reception desk at 6.30pm. No need to book. I found this helpful as could ask questions and look at the rooms. I think there are 4 pools.

I thought about having a waterbirth but wasn't desperate for that to be my only option which was good as when it came to it, the pool was available but the pump wasn't working. (This was 3 years ago though!)

Good luck 😊

I wanted a waterbirth two years ago at Kings (before the Midwife Led unit was open), I got the last available labour room and the room with a pool was already in use, but they also have a blow up pool which they said I could use. Annoyingly they couldn't find a crucial part (I actually never felt sure I believed them because they also announced out of the blue I wouldn't be able to use the pool becuase I had once, as a teenager, had fainting episodes, something which no midwife or consultant had blinked an eye at before...but I guess I'm sceptical about whether the pool really was out of order or they didn't want me in it).

However, there was a bath and I was happy enough spending hours in the bath. So it was fine. Good luck!

    • Anyone can deliver for Evri - my daughter having just passed her driving test tried Evri to make some money - they basically give you a route and as many parcels as they think you can cope with - you make money for each one you deliver, so you can imagine - speed is the priority. Why would they wait for you to answer the door when they can just throw it and take a photo? If you have a choice, choose a different courier service or shop elsewhere where they do.
    • Boil - it’s the customer’s fault, not the delivery person’s.
    • A bit of a long shot but I'm on the lookout for a portable pop-up counter or podium.   The kind you often see on a high street, used by charities or utility companies to advertise their wares.   I've included a photo to give you the idea. I'm a peckham-based artist and am looking for one for a free (and non-profit) community art project.  It can be in any workable condition and can already have signage on it as we will remove and redecorate ourselves.    Thanks in advance, Linzie
    • No I absolutely did not - that much is clear. Have you read the latest stories about Unite, Len and the hotel in Birmingham? The UK electorate were smart enough to reject a far-left party in 2019, let's hope they are smart enough to reject a far-right party at the next election too. If not we are all doomed.
