The room to let is a bright spacious furnished double room, with wardrobe, bed, bedside cabinet, storage table and chair. The room has space enough for storage or for you to bring some of your own furniture.

There is a large eat in kitchen, and a brand new washing machine. The bathroom is a decent size to and has a good shower.

The flat is located in a lovely part of East Dulwich, 5 mins walk from Lordship Lane where there are loads of great shops, resturants and even a cinema now. Its 15 Mins walk from Peckahm which is fast becoming a great place to hang out, with loads of cool bars, resturants and shops.

I am looking for respectful, openminded, friendly, outgoing, lovely, and independant, tidy person. I am very social and friendly and while I tend to be busy alot, it would be nice to get along with the potential flat mate and maybe share a meal when we are around together.

The rent would be ?650 per month and that includes all bills, as well as wifi and sky. For and extra ?20, it can include a cleaner once a week. I would need a small deposit, but the amount is negociable. The room is avaliable for three months initially, just to see if we get along and if we do, we can agree a length of time that suits

I have pictures but files are to big for the site, but You can view them by following the link to my Gumtree Ad https://www.gumtree.com/p/double-room-flatshare/charming-room-in-garden-flat-east-dulwich-/1145955872

Hi

This is not at all what you're looking for but I'm gonna give it a try anyway....

I am a primary school teacher from the Netherlands looking for a room to rent near Peckham Rye Park.

I will be traveling with my dog a cockapoo (then 11 months) she does not shed any hair and even allergic people don't experience any trouble with her.

Last year I stayed at The Gardens for 5 weeks and absolutely loved the area!

For more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
