My name is Matt and I'm a professional pianist with many years' experience. I have performed all over the UK and feel that my experience both fuels my ability to teach, and provides inspiration for the student. As a piano teacher, I am equally comfortable teaching both children and adults, helping them to:


- Learn to read music fluently

- Develop a positive attitude towards playing the piano

- Pass music examinations with high marks

- Improve posture

- Achieve a higher ability to sight-read

- Develop hand technique and awareness of the whole body in performance

- Increase confidence

- Learn more about the theory of music

- Improve general musicianship

- Expand repertoire


I can travel to your home to teach, and am fully CRB checked. My rates are:


- ?40 per hour, or ?25 for 30 minutes

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?     
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.     
    • Some of us oldies would associate Grove with the old Grove Vale School (which I went to in the 1950s)
