What happens when a mother says she is 'fine' but really she is not?

Local author Bridget Hargreave will be at the shop to talk about her new book 'Fine (not Fine) Milk Perspectives and Experiences of Postnatal Depression' in in conversation with Dr Helena Belgrave, Counselling Psychologist.

Post-natal depression (PND), an illness which affects four in ten new mothers, is still stigmatised, and devastatingly misunderstood. In Fine (not Fine), Bridget Hargreave charts her own experiences of depression following the birth of her sons and records the histories of a collection of mothers with a diverse range of perinatal mental health problems, such as anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, and ante-natal depression. She includes the stories of the mother who was hospitalised with severe depression, the mother who was so anxious she was physically sick every day, the mother whose birth trauma means just hearing the word "midwife" leaves her in a cold sweat, and the mother who bravely and honestly outlines the plans she made to end her own life.

Brought together by a series of interviews with mental health professionals and charities campaigning for changes in perinatal care, Fine (not Fine) tells the story of a hidden epidemic, and the remarkable people fighting it.

no booking necessary, we'll be serving up free tea and coffee.

    • Looking for a Seamstress to alter a dress for a legal ceremony (it is also a beautiful dress, so would be disappointed if it got ruined). Looking to adjust the neckline, so need someone who can support altering of design, as well as adjusting general measurements. Any recommendations are so appreciated, thanks! x
    • Me too.   It has been an abundant year for apples, grapes, rosehips and hawthorn berries.
    • Jason did a brilliant job replastering my loft bedroom. It had been done badly before, but he sorted everything out and even put in new joists where they were needed. He came across a few worrying things along the way but explained them clearly, put my mind at rest, and fixed them without any drama. He turned up when he said he would, finished on time, and kept everything tidy. Really friendly, really helpful, and the room looks fantastic now. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him!
    • Well if not housing with a bit of social attached, perhaps a local supermarket or a restaurant/ chain food place. Can’t think of anything else  that would for the bill unless a private dentist or even something like Tessa Jewel to serve that section. Pity that skate park might go - guys and gals put so  much work into it but have to  move with times. Community centre?  Anyone have any other ideas? Nice to explore….. Meant Jowel - not Jewel…
