Hi is anyone able to offer advice on whether we're going to run into trouble by installing a climbing frame in the garden?

We have a large garden, but are quite overlooked. We're in Lambeth.

My questions are:

- Should we apply for planning permission to install a climbing frame (due to there being a raised platform/potential loss of privacy complaints)?

- Does anyone know about enforcement of this aspect of these planning permission rules in Lambeth? Is there a kind of knowledge about what is infomally deemed to be ok and what might be challenged?

Many thanks!

Jenny

I would not think that permission for a climbing frame is needed if it is an ordinary child size frame. Families frequently install these in their gardens and I have never heard about planning consent. I recall someone having a trampoline in the garden and noting that their teenage son was always bouncing up and down in the hot weather in order to see if their next door neighbour was sunbathing in their swimsuit. (They had a 6 foot fence)

    • Yup. Student politics. https://bright-green.org/2012/04/09/democracy-and-direct-action-an-interview-with-edinburgh-universitys-new-student-president-james-mcash/
    • I wonder whether his political epiphany and renaissance will stretch to him using his real name - James Ashworth-McLintock - rather than the more proletarian 'McAsh'. To my mind, the only people who should have self-bestowed mononyms are very talented Brazilian footballers - Pele, Kaka, Ronaldinho - very talented female pop icons - Madonna, Shakira, Sonia - or Russian revolutionaries - Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky. Sonia's greatest hits compilation, 'Greatest Hits', is out now on vinyl & CD through PWL Recordings.
    • Probably more helpful to ask simply whether McCash was affiliated with the Greens before becoming a Labour councillor. Trying to explain your thought process and unravel your fevered imagination (particularly when it comes to local politica) is the kind of thing that might require several years of psychoanalysis.
