Service Charges.

I am currently purchasing a property in Nunhead and have bben told the service charge is ?2000 a year. Could anyone tell me if this sounds right?

Do you mean a flat in a block? Who is the landlord? I personally think that is a lot and it will only go up. Have owned a leasehold flat before and sold it. What do you get for 2k? Garage and swimming pool?

If you are buying a flat in a council block of flats I would recommend joining

Leaseholders Association of Southwark.

If you get a garage and pool out of this then yes it's worth it.:-S

The ?2000 may include a contribution to a fund for future repairs such as roof, ext decorations etc. It can be a good sign so that the works are done and the block is well managed. Ask for a breakdown.
