I need to replace a rotten fence post...

I have had one done before that was set in concrete ... and it took a lot of drilling, chisling, hacking, swearing..

This one is set in one of those 'Metapost' Spike things ..the wood has swelled and I need any ideas as to the best approach to do this.

If I can clear the hole I should be able to insert the new post...

Post is 3" square....

This must be a common problem.. and there is bound to be an easier way to accomplish this...

So.. any idea guys...

I've had a little brainwave....

Paving slab either side of hole.... 2 bricks .. and a steel plate with a hole ...

.. Then a heavy duty coach bolt through the hole screwed into end of post and try to pull it out by leverage...

.. then 2 more bricks until it comes clear...

Foxy..

    • So does that mean they know who was responsible for that violent attack on the chap in the Rye park?
    • It should be easy enough to point out to anyone even thinking of voting reform that should they take power they will have no impact. And will make things worse.  And if people think politicians break promises now and reform are a breath of fresh air then they ain’t seen nothing yet  but they won’t really care about immigration if reform do win  uk used to be about law and order and now we have dim talking heads everywhere unchallenged going “leave the ECHR, stuff the judges, just do it!!”   like life is that simple sweeties
    • I have been reliably informed that it's not the same group.
    • my bet is it's the same group and no amount of talking to is going to make a difference.
