I got one of these from Southwark Council with some guidance and information on the second lockdown.

First note for me is I've got an MOT on 10th November and that is not forbidden by law but not mentioned in the newsletter as a specific purpose to leave home. Any other stuff missed ?

Deliveries to outside my block are also going ahead.

JohnL as you say the legislation allows you to leave home to go to any business that is open or to pick up anything pre-ordered. The guidance from the Council covers the minimum.

Too long or complicated and people won?t read it so it could never cover everything. As some won?t even do the minimum which could mean extra restrictions for more for longer keeping it simple seems like a good approach.

The Council website has a link to the government guidance with more detail and I think that was on what came through the door. The government guidance covers more but runs to pages. How many have found and read it but read the two pages that came through the door?

Hope your MOT is booked in I called yesterday and they advised me to book for an MOT due in January. First available date 21 December.

Where is this newsletter? I don't want to chip in without knowing exactly what it says, and I can't find anything that looks like it or mentions it in any of the Covid-19 council emails I've received, or in the Keep Southwark Safe Campaign webpage https://www.southwark.gov.uk/health-and-wellbeing/public-health/for-the-public/coronavirus/keeping-our-borough-free-from-covid-19/keep-southwark-safe-campaign, apart from the references to the government's own guideline webpages.

Apologies for the quality of the scan - I scanned it on my phone.

This is what came through our door. Having read it again it doesn?t mention being able to leave for an MOT or provide the link for government guidance but it does say ?This includes? so isn?t intended to be complete.

    • Another recommendation for Dulwich Test and Services Centre. Only been using them for a couple of years but wish I’d found them earlier
    • A new roadmap (surely railmap?!) for rail accessibility has been published: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/accessible-railways-roadmap It says "approximately 56% of stations and around 66% of the 1.3 billion journeys that take place on the network have step-free access to platforms...  "£373 million has been committed over the next 5 years to deliver Access for All projects, providing step-free access from station entrances to and between platforms, alongside other essential accessibility upgrades. These works, together, will increase the number of step-free stations across Great Britain from 56% to 58%. "This improvement will make travel easier with step-free access available at stations covering an increased share of total rail journeys – from 66% up to 71%" Don't know what that means for us here: upgrading Peckham Rye would cover a lot of rail journeys but the cost has no doubt increased from the £40m figure previously quoted. So that would eat into a lot of the funding.
