Neighbour dispute - advice

Clearly not going to say much about the situation and that it is far enough away that those involved will not see the thread. Vextatious complaints. Harassment. Nasty.

If anyone can offer some free professional advice, or from their own expeience, please PM me.

Before the clever comments start this does not directly involve me, but has some knock in effects and from my perspective is bullying.

I have a good friend who is a senior police officer who has been helpful (sadly this situation is not that uncommon) but of course cannot get involved.

Bad neighbors are a pain, but as you know 'quantifying' the situation in order to get a result is very hard and wearing

I had this about 15 years ago, thankfully it only lasted 6 months and that was bad enough

However, the only way we found peace was to bring the situation to a head, forcing the issue and then resolving it collectively. It wasn't easy, but it couldn't be ignored

It has the potential to drive people to desperate measures. I used to fantasise about drilling a hole in our wall and randomly firing a gun through it or hiring a team of thugs to smash the place up

Thankfully the real world stepped in

Good luck

Thanks and I will post updates if I think this is of value.

My first house was ex-council in Abingdon. It was considered to be a rough area, but generally we were happy.

Then the neighbours went to work in Saudi leaving their late teenage kids behind and it became a nightmare. At the time there was a trend amongst this age for small motorbikes and the (what I call pyscobilly) look. Friday night was like being in Croydon or Bromley with gangs of youths walking about after the pubs shut looking for trouble. We even had a party which was crashed ending up in bottles being thrown and worse being used as hand held weapons.

This was all beyond myself and friends, but the police seemed to suggest it was a normal Saturday night.

You can imagine the relief when the 'for sale' sign went up. Perhaps the 'dispute' I am speaking about will only end when one party moves on.

    • Something doesn't quite smell right here and probably it's not  the chicken. Both the OP and TheWeekEnd specifically mention  chicken thigh fillets. TWE purchased £14 worth of chicken thigh fillets and they were thrown away "probably for the third time". £14 equates to around 12 fillets which is a lot. Could some have been frozen after purchase and then thawed? And thawed properly before cooking? TWE has a total of 4 posts of which 3 are on this thread.
    • Thanks to all for the advice, very glad to have this community for these enquiries. Here is how it got resolved in case its useful for anyone in the future: I had ordered some garden waste bags, and when the Veolia person came around I just asked them, and they were more than happy to take it no questions asked. 🙂
    • I keep seeing a thread 'missing cat', but you've been found.  Not sure if all would consider that a good thing.  Not a lot new happening ....  When you back in Blighty?
    • In March Oli and his team did an excellent job of the following work at a property I manage.  1. Completely removing existing broken front path. Covering and securing the void (coal shute) beneath using concrete lintels, waterproof membrane and concrete. Laying a compacted sub-base and new clay pavers. 2. Removing broken fence. Securely installing 6 fence posts and 5 fence panels across the end of the back garden. Base of posts wrapped in plastic  sheath and set in post mix. 3. Removing broken render from terrace steps and cleaning then re-rendering steps where needed and repairing other parts.  4. Jet washing rear patio. I would like to thoroughly recommend him to you for a job done very well at a fair price.
