The Relatively Good Radio Show presents... DAY OF THE DEAD

We are delighted to announce our Day of the Dead party will be held at The Joiners Arms, 35 Denmark Hill, SE5 8RS, 8pm - 1am, Saturday 31st October. It's like Halloween, but for grown ups with sophisticated tastes!

Even more exciting than drinking tequila and celebrating the dead are WHISKEY MOON FACE! Featuring the sublime vocal talents of Louisa Jones, who's exquisite lyrics quite literally stop people in the street and turn their hair white. When she played The Greyhound recently hard bitten Irish lads were openly weeping at the beauty of her voice. Hearing is believing! WMF are the very pinnacle of the new London folk movement, and one of the very best bands in the country.

Spinning the tracks between the bands, DJ DEATHS RATTLE DAZZLE, the vampire of Camberwell - he'll curl your toes and get you back across the River Styx.

The whole night is being ousted by us - The Relatively Hood Radio Show (every Sunday 3-4pm, Resonance 104.4FM, Londons Arts radio). We'll be playing a set too.

Surprises, games, free drinks and silliness are guaranteed. Join us at the Joiners for a night of dark delight!

Those who made it to the Day of the Dead at Nutbrook Street know we know how to party. You don't have to come dressed up, but you'll be dead upset if you stick out like a regular Joe.

Tickets are ?10 in advance from www.therelativelygoodradioshow.com

    • Please understand that I am not doubting the word of anyone who has posted here with problems with bought-in prepared meat, but (I am old) uncooked meat (perfectly 'good' meat) does smell often, we are too used to shrink wrapped and chilled supermarket meat which can be almost scent free - so we are surprised when 'butcher's' meat does smell (and often, if it is uncooked, quite strongly). Indeed game which is high can smell quite strongly, and not in a good way to our 21st C sensibilities, without being off - as in food poisoning off. Certainly prepared meat, when cooked, should smell enticing, and not at all bad - so the experiences quoted above are certainly very worrying - but younger people reading this should not be concerned, particularly, if fresh (raw) meat they have bought from e.g. a proper butchers has a smell to it. Which is not to say that something which smells rank shouldn't be a point of complaint. Even the smell of high-ish game, if left unwrapped, should dissipate once unwrapped. If it increases however it may be  cause for concern. But raw beef or lamb in the joint can often smell of something which isn't necessarily particularly nice, without it being worrying. It will tend to cook with more flavour.
