Dulwich WI - 11th February - Monoprinting Workshop

Recommended Posts

Dulwich Women's Institute have had a wonderful first year which we celebrated with a good old fashioned party last night. We have grown to around 90 members this year, welcomed some fantastic speakers and held some very enjoyable events, such as cocktail tasting with Myatt's Fields Cocktails, flower arranging with the Fresh Flower Company / Forest and wine glass charm making with Maleficent Things. We have a diverse mix of members, young and ? not so young. In fact our youngest guest last night was just 6 weeks old - who says new mums can't have fun too?!

We look forward to welcoming back our members, old and new, in January. We meet at the Dulwich Constitutional Club, East Dulwich Grove, on the second Monday of the month at 7:30pm. Membership fees are just ?42 for the year payable by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

Just a quick reminder that we?re back tomorrow evening. If you?re looking to do something new or make some new friends come and check us out. If you?re a bit nervous about breaking the ice with new people, and let?s face it, who isn?t sometimes, look for Andrea. She?s on the committee and will have her little 11 week old baby strapped up in a sling, babies are an easy way to break the ice 😉

Hope to see you tomorrow from 7pm.

Evening all,

Tomorrow evening (Monday 11th February) Dulwich WI are holding a monoprinting workshop with Kim Minuti, a local experimental printmaker. Her work explores a variety of printmaking techniques through collage, layering and surface details. In our workshop we'll be designing and printing our very own original and unique pieces of art, ready to proudly hand at home!

This session is completely free for our members and we are still accepting new members. If you'd like to come along as a guest for this meeting you are more than welcome. We do have a few spaces left for tomorrows event. Please email [email protected] to reserve a space!

We meet at the Dulwich Constitutional Club, East Dulwich Grove, on the second Monday of the month at 7:30pm. Membership fees are just ?42 for the year payable by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

Leg?s from heaven, five little ducks, something or other gate...it seems my bingo calls need a bit of work before tomorrow night. Join us for fun and frolics at this month?s meeting with a good old-fashioned bingo night. Ok ? less of the old-fashioned! We?ll have classic number rounds, quirky special rounds and prizes galore.

Tickets for BINGO are just ?5 for members, ?10 for guests. Your ticket pack includes tickets for all of the bingo games.

?

Before the bingo begins, we will be hearing from Anna Sayburn Lane, author of Unlawful Things. Unlawful Things is set in south London with some scenes in Dulwich. It?s about the hunt for a lost play by the 16th century playwright Christopher Marlowe, and draws on Anna?s research in the papers of Elizabethan actor Edward Alleyne, whose archive is held at Dulwich College. Anna will tell us a little about her research in the archive which includes letters between Edward Alleyne and his family, and business records of the Rose Theatre, which first performed the plays of Shakespeare and Marlowe with an opportunity for questions too.

Anna will have copies of her book available to purchase on the night for ?10.

We are still accepting new members at Dulwich WI and hope to see you tomorrow.

    • Something doesn't quite smell right here and probably it's not  the chicken. Both the OP and TheWeekEnd specifically mention  chicken thigh fillets. TWE purchased £14 worth of chicken thigh fillets and they were thrown away "probably for the third time". £14 equates to around 12 fillets which is a lot. Could some have been frozen after purchase and then thawed? And thawed properly before cooking? TWE has a total of 4 posts of which 3 are on this thread.
    • Thanks to all for the advice, very glad to have this community for these enquiries. Here is how it got resolved in case its useful for anyone in the future: I had ordered some garden waste bags, and when the Veolia person came around I just asked them, and they were more than happy to take it no questions asked. 🙂
    • I keep seeing a thread 'missing cat', but you've been found.  Not sure if all would consider that a good thing.  Not a lot new happening ....  When you back in Blighty?
    • In March Oli and his team did an excellent job of the following work at a property I manage.  1. Completely removing existing broken front path. Covering and securing the void (coal shute) beneath using concrete lintels, waterproof membrane and concrete. Laying a compacted sub-base and new clay pavers. 2. Removing broken fence. Securely installing 6 fence posts and 5 fence panels across the end of the back garden. Base of posts wrapped in plastic  sheath and set in post mix. 3. Removing broken render from terrace steps and cleaning then re-rendering steps where needed and repairing other parts.  4. Jet washing rear patio. I would like to thoroughly recommend him to you for a job done very well at a fair price.
