Brittany cottage for summer holidays 2019

I am pleased that a number of you on the forum liked the cottage over the last three years and hope that others will continue to do so. A mere ?160 a week. A taster below, PM me for pictures and full details. Very family friendly but suitable for couples and groups too.

1870 stone cottage near to Huelgoat in N Finistere. 40mins from coasts, 5 mins from town and village. Wild and less wild walks, cycling, cultural stuff, smaller theme parks, tree top adventure and plenty of other activities. A gentle nine hole golf course.

Comfortably sleeps 6, potentially more. 1/2 an acre of land. Not a five star villa with swimming pool put a holiday home we've had for 15 years and have used countless times. Double bedroom above kitchen and double four poster, bunks and spare single bed in large mezzanine room. Bed settee downstairs and glamping in the barn!

Good if you like the outdoor life, a bit of privacy and want to avoid the masses. If you want five star luxury this isn't for you. I ask for a modest fee which helps cover expenses. It will be free at May half term and for most of the summer. Minimum of a week but this can be done midweek to midweek to save on ferry costs and I am pretty flexible. The occasional helping hand eg pulling a few weeds out is appreciated.

I can discuss provisional interest due to the spectre of Brexit - I'm planning to drive out at Easter when one way or another most of the fuss will have been sorted out (hopefully for the best...)

Thanks for the further interest. Middle of August is free, half term, and virtually all times outside of school hols. I've just had a chat with the PM and she guaranteed all will be well come the spring and summer. I'll put some pics up of the lovely flowers after my Easter trip.

With all the political shenanigans going on I am sure that many of us could do with a break to a quiet village in rural Brittany - PM me for full details. Available half term, a week or so in August and out of the normal school hols.

Cheers.

    • Please understand that I am not doubting the word of anyone who has posted here with problems with bought-in prepared meat, but (I am old) uncooked meat (perfectly 'good' meat) does smell often, we are too used to shrink wrapped and chilled supermarket meat which can be almost scent free - so we are surprised when 'butcher's' meat does smell (and often, if it is uncooked, quite strongly). Indeed game which is high can smell quite strongly, and not in a good way to our 21st C sensibilities, without being off - as in food poisoning off. Certainly prepared meat, when cooked, should smell enticing, and not at all bad - so the experiences quoted above are certainly very worrying - but younger people reading this should not be concerned, particularly, if fresh (raw) meat they have bought from e.g. a proper butchers has a smell to it. Which is not to say that something which smells rank shouldn't be a point of complaint. Even the smell of high-ish game, if left unwrapped, should dissipate once unwrapped. If it increases however it may be  cause for concern. But raw beef or lamb in the joint can often smell of something which isn't necessarily particularly nice, without it being worrying. It will tend to cook with more flavour.
