It looks remarkably like a trunk (bought new) I had in the sixties when I went to uni! In those days it was sent on the train as "paid luggage in advance"!

Right down to the sawn off lock, which happened years later when I moved house, asked the removal men not to lock the trunk as I didn't have a key, and ..... the inevitable happened ....

I had to get a hacksaw to it ....

ah interesting. I have a genuine RAF wooden box that was used to transport belongings from Ghana to Shropshire in 1963.I can post a pic tomorrow if anyone wants to see

I was also surprised to see it described as that.

I honestly do wonder if it's my old trunk, as I can't remember what happened to it, and it looks remarkably similar!
