  1. So, I contacted the owner via facebook as they had suggested in the salon and she immediately messaged me back and rang me this morning. She reassured me that this is not their policy, apologised and said as she had been away on holiday suspected the stylist I spoke to had gone a bit rogue. The owner handled my call really well and was very understanding. Thankfully they have another branch not too far away and I can continue to get the fab hair colour there without having to face the stylist in question who clearly has no common sense when it comes to customer service.
  2. I was told to send the owners a message on their facebook page. Thing is, it feels like I have been fobbed off - why could they not give me the owners email? How do I know the owner will answer and not them? What really surprises me is that the service levels in the salon are usually very good. Their marketing is also equally good. Do I send the facebook message or try tracking down the owners? I'm really annoyed as hate to be let down when I have been so loyal over the years.
  3. So, I went to a hairdresser yesterday that I have been going to for a number of years in ED. I like most of the staff and their service and tip generously. However, I had a really bad experience yesterday/today and am so disappointed I wanted to share and see if I'm being unreasonable. I was having my roots covered so pretty standard fair, although to my surprise the colour came out bright orange (I have dark hair). The stylist said she'd fix it for me but since I had to pick up my daughter, I couldn't hang around and had to make an appointment for the next day to get it fixed. As I left they asked if I could settle the bill which surprised me considering they bodged up my hair and inconvenienced me by having to come in the next day (a day off I'd booked off work to spend with my daughter). I said I'd rather pay the next day when they fixed it but they said it was their policy which made me feel very ackward as if I had intended to do a runner! I have now had it fixed but was surprised that they didn't offer any compensation for the inconvenience. Not even a small gesture. I've been a loyal customer for a long time and despite this no regard for the inconvenience of spending 1.5hrs of my day off fixing their mistake. Won't name and shame but am curious to hear if I'm being reasonable? Needless to say I won't be going back!
  4. It was lovely Ken, I had the lamb which was stuffed with spinach and mushrooms. Hubbie had one of their speciality pies with mash and little one had chicken goujons with chips. all flavoursome. with drin ks inc a couple of beers all came to ?30 - very reasonable indeed. Not a big menu on a sunday (basically 3 roasts and seleciton of pies/bar snack) but enough to do it well...
  5. great that someone else has been too! Both my husband and I were scratching our heads as to why it was so quiet despite nice surroundings, food and staff. Perhaps although in ED, a little out of the way from the main thorough fare. Will definately be going back.
  6. ...I know its not strictly in ED (or is it?) but we've just had an awesome Sunday lunch in there and wondered why its so quiet when the food is fab and its got a lovely outdoor area (not to mention very nice staff)? Usually go to The Herne, Clockhouse and The Rye but all were too full. Had anyone ever heard of The Rose or been there? Just curious as to why so quiet on a lovely Sunday...
  7. hoping someone can help or knows someone who can...hubbie hails from the '90s rave decade so looking for a solo or duo act to do a take on some of the tracks of the time by way of guitar or any other instrument. the ideal would have been the doritos mariachi band but alas budget wont stretch. any ideas welcome! thank you
  8. My daughter goes there Friday mornings and absolutely loves it.Really nice staff, great selection of toys and outdoor bit. They have taken her out a few times to Goose Green playground and i have been told by a friend who happened to be there that they've taken good care of the kids and been very organised. i would definately increase the days or put her in full time when I get a job.
  9. I live in CP myself having moved here from ED. Not sure distance to you (sme might need short bus trip) but here's some activities (some mentioned above) - -Toddlers World soft play at CP National sports centre Mon-Thurs 10-12 -Bernardo's free playgroup at Heshima center - by far the best free playgroup in the area, really really great with lots of toys, activities, outside area & tons of staff to help out. Definately on Mondays 10-12:30 (when we go) but check as there's other times -Pheonix Center (in front of Sainsbury's) playgroup - on Tuesdays. Good range of toys and singing towards the end of the session. -library in CP high street - they do a singing session but cant remember what days -CP park - really lovely playground with sandpit. -Swimming at CP sports center - we still do this and its really great especially the amount of room you get for changing. Hope this helps and good luck.
  10. Darren, daisy lets are brilliant we used them ourselves in Nov. Have you considered Crystal Palace? We still own a flat in ED but decided to rent it out and rent a bigger place until the market gets better. Our budget wasnt far off yours and we're in a large house with fabulous garden and private parking, something you'd be pushed to get in ED on that sort of budget. I do still go to ED every day as its just the best place to hang out during the day or otherwise but its only 10mins drive if you have a car. Good luck with the search.
