  1. I bought a nania car seat from asda for ?25 when my boy was about 15 months old (they regularly promote it in baby and toddler events) It's light and really easy to put in and out of the car. We got a sunshine kids car seat bag for ?15 from amazon and have taken our own ever since. He's now 3 and still fits in it. We also strap nappies, wipes, blankets etc into the car seat within the bag as airlines don't check. We've flown with monarch, Thomas cook and BA with it as part of luggage allowance and no problems
  2. How about taking yourself off for a posh afternoon tea. Red carnation hotels have some lovely little boutique hotels tucked away around town with gorgeous teas
  3. Another vote for bosinver (www.bosinver.co.uk) from me, 'farmer dave's farm' as my two year old calls it, is amazing If you can go outside school hols its worth waiting till July/Aug for sept discount
  4. They just doubled the size of the nursery but not the school, so there will be even more pressure on places from nursery parents now. They open up the school places the autumn term before the intake - so will talk to nursery parents in sept/Oct 2013 for sept 2014 reception places.
  5. Overground to clapham junction, come out the back entrance and pick up a 49 or 345 bus on falcon rd, should cut bus time down a bit. There are lifts at CJ and the overground trains go to platform 1 and 2 right at the back of the station. This is a great route for the kings road too
  6. My son is starting at Oakfield in lower foundation (3+ nursery) this September when he will be 3 1/2. We don't know anyone else going there and I'd love for him to meet up with and get to know some other new starters to make the transition easier. If that's you, get in touch for a scoot in dulwich park play date or similar Cheers Gail and Leo
  7. I recommend Dave Cosgrove of Xcel plumbing. 07588 306016. [email protected] He fitted our boiler and has serviced it for last 2 years. He's also installed a bathroom, and tarted up another, making excellent recommendations on how to use the space, which products to buy etc He's done work for several friends on my recommendation and not disasppointed He's a really down to earth, hardworking and considerate guy
  8. call or go there today as open enrollment starts today for jan term, renewals were last week. warm pool is much nicer :)
  9. we've got a britax evolva, really sturdy, lasts through group 1,2 and 3. was in which best buy review got it from precious little one, online baby retailer, cheaper than john lewis, next day delivery http://www.preciouslittleone.com/products/38/group-1-2-3&pageNum_rsCategoryProducts=1&totalRows_rsCategoryProducts=85/
  10. how about putting kids in clothes and taking a photo to email/send to MIL THEN returning them to the shop and swapping for something nicer. everybody's happy ;)
  11. we used pedder when we went to US for 3 years. they had a fully managed service with a dedicated property manager who even managed the installation of a new kitchen while we were away. but the best bit was the inventory management - this is the most important bit. our tenants left all sorts of stuff in house, painted over brand new painted walls, left blu tack marks, stained carpets etc, we got a report the size of a brick it was so thorough, and a significant proportion of the deposit back to cover it. whoever you go with check what their inventory/deposit procedures are. good luck
  12. Hi Hollie I've got a boy about 6 months older. All I'd say from your description is could it be more to do with his daytime sleep than his food - which sounds great. Mine started cutting back length of daytime nap before 2, if daytime sleep is too long or goes on too late (after 2:30) then getting to sleep in evening is hard and he wakes up earlier in morning
  13. sticker books, sticker books, sticker books :)
  14. if you're the owner of the bike nicely chained to the bike racks on the corner of north cross road and archdale road (opposite the thai corner cafe), i saw your bike get run over by a white van just before 10 am today and have noted the registration number. the driver did get out to put it back upright, but it looks as if one of your wheels was pretty badly bent. another passer by yelled at the driver to stop and leave you a note at least, but i don't think they did. PM me for the info, naughty van driver!!
  15. *get a cash back credit card (martin lewis money saving expert site has recommendations) and to maximise the benefit buy everything on it then pay it off at the end of the month *or if you shop at tesco get a tesco credit card, you get double reward points for everything spent in their stores. *check if your employer has a discount club scheme - hubby has one and we can get reloadable gift cards for lots of retailers at 5 - 15% discount, it really adds up, especially for supermarkets, its all managed online *switch your energy supplier once a year *REALLY look at all your direct debits on your last bank statement to check you still need everything - can you reduce your sky tariff, your mobile phone bill, do you read that magazine you have a subscription to?
