  1. Hello! We are a family in Forest Hill. Our 2 children are going to a specialised school in Kentish Town. We would need a person to pick them up from Kentish Town (NW5), every week day at 3.30pm, and bring them back to Forest Hill (multiple transport solutions exist). If the parents are not home, you would give a snack, and ensure children are doing their homework. Children are very well behaved and polite. The person needs to be reliable and available on school days, Monday-Friday, during term time. You are welcome to have dinner with the children if you would like. Dinner is usually prepared in advance by the family. Transport card is paid for, on top of remuneration. Please get in touch if interested (DM) and to discuss availability and remuneration. Position available immediately.
  2. I wholeheartedly defend Burro e Salvia! These are by far the best pasta I have ever eaten in London - they are of course fresh, and very authentic, and quite different from what you can find in any supermarket (even high-end fresh pasta from Waitrose are drastically below their) - they present all kinds of very regional shapes and types of pasta. They are hand made, which comes at a price, I admit, but I am delighted to have them on Lordship lane - it is only a better foodie destination with them on the street!
  3. Dear all, what is the parents' opinion on Fairlawn school vs. other local school, e.g. Horniman or Goodrich? Is it still as good as it was under the previous head? In your opinion, how would the new Harris academy compare to it, now that the former Fairlawn's head is the director of Primary Education @ Harris Federation? Thanks for your honest reply
  4. Hi - this is very interesting. Because there are no siblings yet, I would imagine the catchment to be fairly wide. I think it would be interesting to understand who will put their children to the new Harris school, even if they have one of the other local schools (Goodrich, Fairlawn, Horniman, Heber, St Anthony...) How do you rate, in your family, Harris FS vs. the other established state schools? Why would(not) chose Harris vs. an other one, if given the choice? ... As I don't know anything about the new school, it is hard to judge...Thanks for your candid comments, I think it will help a lot of parents in the coming days!
  5. Hi! where did you end up in the end? We live exactly between the 2 schools, and I am just fearing we might not get any because Horniman is no longer bulging and we might be just off limit for Fairlawn (300m, so not a done deal at all)! Would love to hear from similar situations, as I am really puzzled and don't know what to do! Best, Selbe
  6. Hi - I was also baffled by the Council decision not to open a bulge class, despite promoting it openly. Is this even legal? Aren't they forced to deliver on their promise? We live between Fairlawn and Horniman, but looks like we might not get either of the two now! Had I known, I would not have put Horniman as second choice on my list! Kelvin grove bulging is of no use to us, as we live too far from it! I really don't know what to do. Has anyone heard anything about the East Dulwich harris academy? this could marginally help in the western part of Lewisham, maybe?
  7. just went through the same process, ... very difficult interaction with oak tree nursery in HH, would strongly advise anyone against it!
