I'm looking for recommendations for someone who can prune two small fruit trees in East Dulwich, who knows what they are doing in terms of picking the right time of year etc., and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Recommendations only please rather than companies touting for business for themselves. And no DMs either, thank you. It's not2late.

Try the phone shop called Sarp at 26 Grove Vale, near East Dulwich station. I've had old phones fixed by him before, and he's a good guy and doesn't charge much.

I would also like to recommend James Seth, who I called after one of my lighting circuits kept tripping the switch on the consumer unit. He was able to come within a couple of days and soon identified the source of the fault. I also had him replace a bathroom fan and and some light fittings, that I'd put off doing for a while. He also suggested how I could reduce my electricity bills by replacing some of the bulbs/fittings. He was quick and very reasonable, not to mention a genuinely nice guy. I need someone to do a one-off thorough deep clean of my flat as a one-off on a single day. PLEASE DO NOT PM ME BUT REPLY ON THIS THREAD. I CANNOT REPLY TO PRIVATE MESSAGES. I don't need anyone to vacuum or clean the bath but to do the occasional tasks I don't have time for, such as cleaning bookshelves behind books, tops of kitchen cabinets, curtain rails, lampshades and ceilings. Just want to give a brief shout out for driving instructor Nick Pauli who took me out for a refresher lesson the other day. He was already recommended on the Forum but I also remembered his shop-front which used to be on St Aidan's Road He's been teaching people to drive for many years, used to employ several other instructors but now works alone, and is patient and experienced. Although I have a full license, I hadn't been behind the wheel of a car for a number of years and wanted to go our with someone, to help boost my confidence before driving on my own again. He knows the area very well and found some easy, quiet streets to start off with and some tricky bends and hill starts to practice on. Sounds to me like it was on diversion, but no one bothered to put posters on the stops. The P13 shouldn't be seen as a bus service as such. More like a piece of performance art, inspired by Turkish Dolmuses perhaps. I'd never rely on it, but sometimes catch it to Streatham for the thrill of seeing whether it will turn up that day.

I've often wondered that myself. I also feel that as a centrepiece, this 'fountain' -- really just a jet of water -- rather lets the Sexby Garden down. I wonder if we could crowdfund for a new ornamental fountain.

There are also a couple of new trees on Grove Vale near Goose Green school. I think its great, and I hope Southwark plans to plant many more.

Just to add to the positive replies, I've always found the reception staff helpful, friendly and incredibly calm under pressure. I've been with this practice for over ten years and have no intention of going elsewhere.

This is a great idea. Would it be fun to devise some walks around East Dulwich, taking in One Tree Hill, Dulwich Park and Dulwich & Sydenham Woods. It's not quite countryside, but I'm sure we could work out a route that would take up an afternoon.

Well I've just come home this evening to my ground floor flat (near the station) to find I'd had some unexpected visitors. Stole a laptop. Picked up a guitar in the bedroom but thought better of it and left it on the kitchen floor, which is a pity because it's total junk, unplayable and I've been meaning to get rid of it for ages! They got in through the back door which they forced open. Police came within the hour and they said that there have been a spate of burglaries in this area, and I know that burglaries go up around Christmas, perhaps becuase thieves know that people are likely to have new expensive goods still in their boxes. Worst thing really was the embarrassment that my flat was such a mess when I left that I didn't notice the mess the burglars had made for about 5 minutes. Luckily the two coppers were too polite to comment on the piles of washing up in the sink. Do check your doors and windows are locked when you go out, and perhaps leave a light on.

You know I might just be interested in coming to one, if it was a little less. I'm not questioning the value of your expertise, or the quality of the refreshments, only thinking along the lines of what a similar course at Morley college would cost, or at least used to cost when I did such things.

Just want to say thank you to the very nice man who found my mobile in Dulwich Village earlier. When I called it from my landline, to help me find it thinking it was somewhere in the flat, he picked up, told me he was in the Crown and Greyhound and would wait until I got there. And, he wouldn't even let me buy hime a drink for saving my Christmas. Just thought that in this era of "a casual culture of cruelty" it's sometimes helpful to remember that most people are honest. And whoever you are, I've always depended on the kindness of strangers.

To be honest, I think it needs some work. Whoever's hosting the site for you is running adds for other companies so people finding your site will click on them and go else where. You need to space out the text better. It's really far too crowded. Very importantly, a hotmail email address makes me think "fly-by-night" -- surely your domain registration company gives you email addresses such as [email protected] Sorry not to be more positive but I hope this helps. not2late

A coffee shop with wifi would be great around here -- especially with the number of people who seem to work from home. Meanwhile, I've heard that Anatolia will not be reopening its doors, a shame since it was a good restaurant if somewhat lacking in ambience.

I am so glad that this thread is just demonstrating how brilliant the local shopkeepers and their staff are and how much they appreciate them. Since I've worked in a service environment myself (not in ED), it's never ceased to amaze me how rude CUSTOMERS can be, blaming staff if they've had to queue and basically taking out whatever frustrations they have with their family/work/life on people they just see as convenient emotional punch-bags. I agree it's better than it being empty and then developed into flats but...another estate agent? If theres a crash in the property market ED is going to turn into a ghost town.
