  1. Another recommendation for Andy who came last week to paint a ceiling and fix a cupboard door. He did a great job and went the extra mile by going out to pick up paint and a new hinge when we didn?t have what was needed.
  2. My family have been NHS patients at ED Dental Care for a number of years. I have just called to try and get an appointment for my 6 year old and was told that NHS appointments aren?t available until February but if we want a private appointment we can get one now for ?25. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it allowed? It obv penalises the patients who can?t pay and damages any argument that the NHS is ?free at the point of entry? (ie by that point you may well be crippled with tooth ache?)
  3. I am wondering if anyone knows the exact plans for increasing the ED Charter year 7 intake. We would be slightly outside the catchment if we were applying this year. But I understand there are plans to increase intake from 180 to 240. The website says 210 from September 2022. Would they then extend to 240 in 2023 or is that still to be decided? All intel welcome! Thank you
  4. What is the criteria for entry to Haberdashers? East Dulwich is well outside the catchment but have kids got in through a music scholarship route. Is distance irrelevant with that route?
  5. Oh and it is 50 min sessions at the gym and then they close for ten minutes for cleaning before the next group arrives. Which sounds like a sensible system
  6. Thanks for all the intel. I?m booked in for a session on Tuesday so will report back.
  7. Oh great! Thanks for the intel. Looking forward to that
  8. Does anybody know? There?s no news on the website but they could open from Monday I think? I could do with some exercise....,
  9. Just wanted to put in a recommendation for Down the Drain plumbers who came out to unblock our toilet on Saturday morning for a v reasonable price. Dave was v efficient and agreed to come at short notice. We were delighted with the service. Number is 07919 107868
  10. Thanks folks! Still haven?t quite decided what to do but lots of ideas here. Will report back!
  11. My husband and I have a child free day and night planned in London on Thursday and have no idea what to do. I'm terrified we are going to waste our time wandering around and not sure where to go. We have a vague plan for cocktails and dinner in soho but would really appreciate ideas for things to do in the afternoon or great spots for a snifter and luxurious dinner? Thanks all!
  12. I have had a really bad experience with Bells Kitchens recently. A four day job which turned into a month long one with mix ups between the Bells orders and their builders and being promised things that always took longer than expected. I have complained and heard absolutely nothing from them for two weeks. Terrible customer service. I really expected more from them. Would not recommend
  13. Us too. Honestly changed my life. Couldn?t recommend her enough
  14. Sorry accidentally double posted so deleting this
  15. Wondering if there are any other recommendations for a telephone engineer. We have a telephone line which has neeeded to be cut because of some work we have had done. I've tried Mark but he is unable to come out today.
  16. I found Nicola Watseon on this site at http://www.childsleepsolutions.co.uk/ I had a 90 minute phone consultation about my one year old son (at the time). It was honestly the best money I've Speer spent and wish I had done it sooner. would thoroughly recommend.
  17. Thanks for the ideas! Much appreciated. A Fitbit is a good thought I hadn't considered and I will check out the boxing class too!
  18. Hello folks Now that we are in the summer holidays I'm trying to keep up my exercise but with two kids in tow. I find it really hard getting to the gym in the evening when I just want to collapse on the sofa. I'm wondering what other people do? Does anyone have any recommendations for exercise classes where I can take the children (mine are one and four)? Or other ideas for burning some calories? I think we could do with an aerobics class with a CBeebies cinema in an adjoining rom. I wonder if I could patent that? Thanks in anticipation....
  19. Hello, our front door has expanded, I guess with the recent rain? And i almost got locked inside the house this morning with two kids because the door wouldn't shift. Had to get our neighbour to come over to give the door a big shove.... Does anyone know a carpenter or handyman who would be able to shave the door back? I don't have any equipment and wouldn't know where to start. Need to sort out quick before we are stranded! Thanks!
  20. I wanted to add a recommendation for Laura. She and a colleague came and cleared our garden on Friday. They worked so hard and efficiently. We have tried a number of gardeners and found Laura by far the most productive. Getting our weeds under control and everything cut back in one morning was pretty impressive. The company name is now Laura's Gardening services and she is contactable at [email protected] Helen
  21. Prettys used to serve fantastic food. It is now truly awful. Today I had a small place instead of a saucer with my tea and our drinks were served with the waiter's finger dipped in it. The fish fingers in my sandwich appeared to have been fried. And burned too. Everything we ordered was wrong in some way. Steer clear. I've never sent food back before but when I did I was simply told sorry with no attempt to make amends (albeit I was not charged). We waited an hour too. Seriously dreadful. What a shame.
  22. My son is 8 weeks and suffering too. My daughter was exactly the same. I introduced a dummy which gives some comfort (and you can get rid of it when the pain passes) and I put my hand firmly on his tummy while he is moaning. And as much burping as possible. This seems to calm him a bit. I reassure myself that he isn't in masses of pain. It's more that he is getting used to the feeling of pooing and farting and his little insides aren't wuite developed yet. My daughter grew out of it but not until I had angsted myself to the doctor several times and tried everything around. it will pass. But realise that isn't that helpful when you are in the thick of it
  23. Thanks for your help everybody. It all looks like a mysterious art to me but will try and get my head around it....
  24. Hello I've seen the really useful thread with the 14/15 catchment map and discussion but wondering if there is now the equivalent for this year's intake (15/16)? I couldn't find anything online. The 16/17 process is now starting and I'd be interested to know whether there are any changes in catchments. Does anyone know?
