  1. There are also Historic Maps and info on Southwark Council's website.
  2. Ken promised the Overground Extension and Delivered it. Boris has promised a low cost flying doughnut on a cable - which we have ended up paying for. Buses that cost ?8 Million pounds and some bicycles.
  3. Sounds like sitting on the fence to me, again!
  4. You are supposed to stop and look at a crossing.
  5. 1. Yes But another 1 or two buses would be needed 2. Cut the Flippin Bozzo Bikes Scheme.
  6. If the 63 went to Honor Oak I wouldn't need to drive to the station. That's 2 fewer car journeys a day! Improving Public Transport reduces traffic. Are you saying if all the trains and buses stopped we would have quiet roads?
  7. If you ran the same bus route down 2 different routes this would cause confusion and passengers ending up not where they wish to be.
  8. As a commuter I look for the quickest route- I think most do so a 20 minute walk rules out the Honor Oak Route. It takes about an hour for me to get to and from East Dulwich to Central London each day . If there were a bus that went to Honor Oak I would use it. I'd be delighted but it is just not practical at the moment.
  9. The lack of safe crossing points is believed to have contributed to Britain's poor showing in the pan-European study. Telegrapgh - Only Spain, with 15.7 pedestrians killed per million of the population, fared worse than Britain, which had 11.5 deaths in 2005, the latest year for which figures are available. In addition, pedestrians account for more than one in five road deaths in this country, the highest proportion of all countries in the study. "What we need in Britain is a sort of junior zebra crossing that tells pedestrians "this is safe place to cross", and tells drivers "pedestrians will cross here"," said Andrew Howard, the AA's head of road safety. "But it needn't require traffic to stop. This is needed because we have to accept that pedestrians won't walk a hundred yards to a pelican on a shopping street.
  10. I don't think the London Overground runs at night so the N63 would not be affected. As for the roads coping I think LRT think work would be needed to allow buses to to get up the hill and round the tight junctions. Nothing to do with the volume of traffic. I've seen learner bus drivers in Double deckers go up and round the hill so it cant be that hard.
  11. Its not that 20 mph makes drivers drive more safely its just that at 20mph or below it is very unlikely a moving car would kill.
  12. Waitrose were penciled in for Peckham
  13. MIstakes. In non fatal cases if a car driver makes a mistake he or she might dent a wing or break a light array. If a pedestrian makes a mistake he breaks his or her leg and can suffer internal injuries etc. It is for this reason that there are tests , alcohol limits and rules of the road. In such busy areas like EDR the speed limit should be lower and there should be more safe crossing points.
  14. Cost of a Fatal Accident compared to cost of a crossing seems to show a crossing is worth it. Cost of an accident The values calculated in the year 2000 were as follows as an ?average per accident?: Accident Severity Lost Output ? Medical & Other Direct ? ?Human? ? Total ? Fatal 438,860 14,240 870,780 1,323,880 Serious 17,880 14,610 121,620 154,110 Slight 2,130 3,120 10,130 15,380 Note that a serious injury is defined in the UK by an overnight ho

  20. Is it in Dulwich Park?
  21. Every Day I see idiot Motorists dropping their kids off at School parking on Zig Zags Double Yellows EVEN ON THE PAVEMENT Blocking Sight lines and making it bloody dangerous for everyone. However we have no idea what happened yet in this accident and jumping to blame anyone or defend anyone is pretty premature if not immature. ISTR that there was a plan to put another crossing in on that street. Just a question for discussion Why should cars always have the priority? I hope the lad is ok and the Driver too. Any idea which School he was heading to?

  23. Napthalene Occurs Naturally. You can get it here! Virgin Galactic are upstairs! Trace amounts of naphthalene are produced by magnolias and specific types of deer, as well as the Formosan subterranean termite, possibly produced by the termite as a repellant against "ants, poisonous fungi and nematode worms."[5] Some strains of the endophytic fungus Muscodor albus produce naphthalene among a range of volatile organic compounds, while Muscodor vitigenus produces naphthalene almost exclusively.[6] Naphthalene has been found in meteorites. It has also been discovered in the interstellar medium in the direction of the star Cernis 52 in the constellation Perseus.[7]
