I have an excellent carpenter doing some work for me last week and this. He had had 2 biggish jobs go on hold for a couple of weeks as extensions are not ready for finishing. Brilliant with doors, floors, kitchens etc if any one wants anything doing PM me and I can put you in touch. Hes asked me to post as hes not too good on t'internet :)

Ok I will try not winge too much but trying to do some work on my house and just being driven mad by trades people charging an arm and a leg to do simple jobs. I will not rant on with regard what has come before but my latest one with a plumber who came round yesterday to literally fit 5ft of waste pipe with a riser/stack for a dishwasher and washing maching. Then cut the hot water and cold pipe and move them 1 foot he wanted ?150...it literally was a 1 hour job I had all the gear and there was nothing in his way cupboard wise. He didnt do gas so I would have needed another guy to come and connect the new gas hob........ Has the world gone mad or is there still people out there who would do some simple plumbing/carpentry work on an evening/weekend for a fair price. Now ok I know every one has to make a days wages and a salary and I know a guy has to drive over and do the job but I dont class my simple job as something you should set a day aside to do. I didnt care when he did it day or night but my point is there is no way it was a ?150 + another sum to connect gas to a hob for another guy. Sooooooooooo ED do you think I am over the top and are guys to come round and do a little job worth ?150? Or are there people out there glad of a few pound and will come round and actually be useful and do some bitty stuff? I have no problem paying a guy for a days work but what I cant do is have a guy come round for an hour or two and want ?150? Thoughts would be most welcome

No didnt see the documentary but I can see how they make ?100k+. When your card is swallowed you presume it doesnt come back out and hence on a saturday night you dont report it! I know now that is silly but thats how it is. Those machines in Dulwich are always with issues especially at the weekend. I got a taxi to stansted at 4am the other saturday and this well shady person persisted standing behind me as I got cash out in the machine on the corner of Barclays.........ok nothing happened but at that hour of the day she had about 7 other machines to go to to use but for some reason wanted the one I was at! Im still amazed why these people arent tracked my card was taken in dulwich the bank must have CCTV and used in Tesco 5 minutes later near peckham rye and then 2 x jewellers in Lewisham...........they even bought something for ?8 in a sainsburys...........perhaps they were peckish!

The machines are out of action several times at weekends I think from memory so this must be happening wholesale! I cant understand why somebody cant sit on CCTV for 10 minutes look at HSBC look at Tesco CCTV and look at whatever garage in Lewisham the person bought petrol at and hey presto guy is caught!

Im still in a bit of shock as I only noticed 30 mins ago online. It was HSBC im pretty sure but all the machines were out except one ?300 immediately taken at Tesco in ED and then the rest in Lewisham! This is the second time I have been done I cant understand why nothing happens...........this guy could be chased at real ease on CCTV

Did anybody get their card swallowed in Dulwich on saturday night and subsequently their Bank AC emptied in the prevailing few hours. My card got swallowed at 0015 ish and the account emptied in the next 12 hours I did notice all the machines were still out of service this morning as I passed! Depressedddddddddddd
