  1. " So we're agreed then? The Beatles were a bunch of losers, that couldn't write a decent tune between them.." Not at all, but then nor were they blessed of a perfect output. There were definitely album fillers in their canon as well as some of the best pop ever written (Michelle), sublime songs (A Day in the Life) and some genuinely innovative music (Strawberry Fields). But I really have never been able to stand either Hey Jude or Let it Be, forgive me and my opinion.
  2. The missus seems up for it, so I should be pottering about 7:40 onwards
  3. It is, as long as you believe everything you read in wikipedia. Bear in mind that the penultimate entry in wikipedia for Sheffield Utd read simply "inbred cunts". Make of that what you will.
  4. No probs. Agree with the basic point that West's accent is a bit flaky, Gillen's (Carcetti - Irish I believe) is better but still wanders off from time to time. I must say I was stunned when I discovered Stringer was a Hackney fella!!
  5. If I can tear myself away from The Wire, may well be up for that.
  6. Are you sure about Omar? I listened to Williams and West doing the commentary, and either Williams was staying in character or he's gone totally native. ..or he's a yank.
  7. actual live coverage of brown's speech at the Mash, weird http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1276&Itemid=28
  8. I've only stood up once, and that was at Croke Park, I was standing anyway and it seemed a bit rude to actually sit down. But never felt inclined to do so in a pub. Sure as hell haven't stood up to that awful dirge of a British anthem, though I have been inclined to have a boogie to the spanish one. Tum tum-te tum . tum-te tum . tum-te tum tum tum tum. da da da-daa ....etc
  9. She's pretty much guaranteed to dream (of electric sheep perhaps?) if we try to watch Bladerunner too. Next classic stop will be The Shining, all axes will be locked away!!
  10. "Confirmed my suspicions, thought as much seeing the banners on the wall. Think I'll stay clear of that place then, not too keen on listening to their supporters glorify the IRA and launch sectarian bile against any protestant within ear shot." Blimey, that's some extrapolation. I've been many times and have yet to hear politics even discussed. If they want a disturbing picture of Roy Keane on an Irish flag then good luck to them, but to leap from being Irish to being espousers of sectarian bile in one step?!?!? Cripes. Now the St Germain in Forest Hill / Catford, that was a scary prospect!!
  11. ditto, that is a familiar conversation. And if it's Miller's Crossing, then she'll fall asleep within 20 minutes EVERY TIME!!!
  12. The Wire is a pretty big commitment of time, but Spaced is just 2 short series and is an absolute must see, packed full of cultural references (mostly zombie films and star wars to be fair) and some great great comedy quotes. It's by the Sean of the Dead / Hot Fuzz people.
  13. Keef, you've never seen Spaced?!?!?!?
  14. and judging by recent activity on the SUFC wikipedia page, either a net savvy hammer hasn't taken kindly to the latest news, or a Wednesday fan finally has a computer.
  15. Nonsense, if you're going to go all bent lawyer, choose someone who represents clout and can arrange for Kevin McCabe to wake up with Gary Speeds decapitated head in his bed.
  16. I see it's a bout a ton for the upgrade. Does you need details of your original copy. Obviously I'm not saying that I borrowed a copy of CS3, heaven forbid, but....
  17. Not to mention Finns going postal, though they do seem to be the only Europeans with 'Voted most likely to shoot his colleagues in a spree' in their year-books.
  18. Tired old story, inclined to agree with keef that there's legs in the flea ridden mangy dog yet
  19. "the FT is boring as it gets. Poorly written articles..." Much like the economy, the FT went all short termist with a healthy dose of misguided optimism when, with revenues and circulation dropping they decided the solution was to pension off all their experienced staff in one swell foop and replace them all with a bunch of graduates who were totally out of their depth but with no old hands to show them the ropes. Expect photos of Paris Hilton any time soon
  20. Felt the same about series 4. amazing how you could go through more character development in 12 episodes with those young'uns than many programmes could manage in, well than many programmes could full stop.
  21. Aaah, Dirty Three. Great Stuff!! Antipodean Violin Rock!!
  22. Page 9?!, clearly too much Mag talk and not enough about music. Listening to the Spinto Band?s new one. It?s more of the same really, but no less jolly and fun for that, especially with the last gasp of an Indian (to a somewhat miserable normal) summer fizzling away. Jenny Lewis will require a couple of listens as it?s less immediate than Rabbit Fur Coat, but so far sounding promising.
  23. scratch that keef, bought 4&5 at lunch time
  24. We've still got to go through series4 (for the second time), so if i can put my name down after Jah? Have kicked off on ep.1 of the Sopranos to help fill inevitable vacuum to come.
  25. LOL!!! That's the Feella (except on thursdays)
