  1. Thinking about this, it's not PCGM, it's just an educational approach. It's not about offending, it's about not discouraging and alienating. I'm sure there are proper educationalists out there who could tell me, maybe I'm just making an assumption. The rights and wrongs of this approach I'm not qualified or experienced to comment on, but surely this is nothing to do with PCGM.
  2. Does your phone's pc software have an export contacts function. Usually it allows to a csv file or somesuch. I used the csv file to import into google contacts and then synced my new android phone to google contacts. Bing, took about 2 minutes end-to-end.
  3. Aaaaah Cyclops == I == me -> up == em : wow == my := put it all together emmy. Thanks sj.
  4. True, dramatic reform is creating laws that can prevent the religious conservatives from handing down this sort of punishment. This hasn't been done, what's happened is the rulers have interceded to prevent this happening because it made the news. There's nothing to tell off here, but what it does show is that international pressure can alter the reality on the ground in SA, it'll achieve bugger all in Georgia.
  5. The King is a reformer, he's being doing it slooooowly for years. It remains to be seen if the pace quickens as that could potentially be as destabilising as too slow. A tricky one, just because the liberal west (minus AFN obviously) likes the idea of it, doesn't mean dramatic reforms are good for other societies. You only have to look at how happy Russia is with it's new tsar after the Yeltsin years of rampant change to see how damaging pulling the societal/cultural rug from under the feet of a nation can be.
  6. Can anyone explain this one to me Cyclops has erection - wow, that should get an award (4) I'm pretty sure it's emmy, obviosuly an award, buy why? Cyclops is usually i or eye, erection = up? is errrr i or eye. where does the wow fit in? my my? a bit weak isn't it. Am i missing smething entirely? heellp.
  7. Frustrated youth helps provide the impetus towards demonstrations of frustration and discontent, but the various incarnations of the Arab spring have needed a buy in from the wider society. Successful democracies in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt (although so far 0.6 out of 3) and Iraq *ahem*, might help reignite the urgency of movements in Yemen, Bahrain, Syria et al, but I've a feeling that wider society in Saudi might view the consequent liberalisation as more of a threat to their society than their current lack of political expression and opportunity is. Or I could be wrong, there are certainly powerful radical elements in SA and if the country finds itself marginalised and increasingly irrelevant in a changed middle eastern landscape then the winds of freedom may yet blow there too.
  8. I've heard tell of lion pooh on here before. Sounds a bit dubious to me, have you tried a shotgun?
  9. I'm at a loss. Exactly who does X offend? Tie fighter pilots?
  10. It is obviously appalling but was almost certainly wilfully so, it's a statement by the religious elite to the political elite. As much as we criticise Saudi autocracy and the hypocrisy of Western stances towards different countries in that region, I think it actually serves to highlight just how deeply conservative much of that country is and just how long and slow a process reform is there. As concerned as the authorities are by the Arab spring I don't think we're going to see the same sort of uprisings there and any movement by the authorities to head off dissent and turmoil will be very small. That's not to say it won't happen, this is exactly the sort of spark which can do it. Idiotic is well as immoral!!
  11. Hoopers has been good so far. I imagine the EDT is, but I've not been happy watching sport there for about a year now.
  12. ok i was harsh, i liked some of zooropa too, but i think it's the start of them becoming parodies of themselves and pretty much when I lost interest. No time for the early tuff then? War can transport me right back to my youth and it still sounds fresh today.
  13. At least he wasn't there for an interview for an i.t. role this time!!
  14. Ooh ohh, Dinosaur jr came back from the dead after 10 years with their ninth, 'Beyond' which ranks with their best work.
  15. Thinking about it, U2 has the anti-pure 9th album, zooropa, a case of should'a quit whilst you were ahead (although rattle & hum arguably could fit the bill, though I am partial to Achtung Baby)
  16. Yo La Tengo's ninth effort was a actually a bit of an odd one. Still very good but not very YLT. Vaguely surprised they didn't do it as a side-project release like the marvellous two recording session, garage effort Fuckbook by The Condofucks. And yes SJ, I almost posted that one myself.
  17. The point about thirds was more that the first two were rubbish and relatively unknown rather than a good third album. If someone manages a ninth I'll take my hat off to them, and probably eat it too!!
  18. and in fairness politics seems t have moved away from the visionary and towards the pragmatic, partly as a response to the awfulness of the sounbite veneer but no substance of the Blair era, but also as a response to the ground constantly shaking under our feet as we lurch from one crisis to another. I don't think that's a bad thing. I've always quite liked Ed's lack of urgency in toeing a party line and addressing things honestly, likewise I'm quite enjoying the coalition's pragmatic u-turns on policies they get wrong (which is quite often lets face it!!)
  19. I actually rather like him. He's a decent chap and seems to be pretty honest and Frank. Lacks charisma and doesn't engage with the electorate, but that just reinforces that we get the self serving arseholes we deserve. It's a reflection of us not him. Best of luck to him when he opens that bakery because he hasn't a snowflakes chance of winning anything. And in fairness he's less Tory lite than nu labour.
  20. The mocklet loves Greendale and we've had a very good experience with the place and the staff too. We left it a bit late and lucked out with a cancellation place when whole nanny share debacle broke down, but waiting list when I was looking in September (2010) was new year for a full time place, so it isn't quite panic mode just yet!!
  21. They're no fun when your ISP packs up!!!
  22. Wasn't that Nelson in Mongrels who always swore in that manner?
  23. in fact looking at this chronology, Luke has Mary pregnant for about 10 years!! So perhaps just a meaningless arbitrary name is better than AD BC when they are so wrong at describing what they are!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronology_of_Jesus
