  1. Sometimes you'll find somewhere on the board small print advertising for the sign company which produces the board and erects the sign. Xpress Signs are the most local to East Dulwich and provide the service to most agents locally. Ring them direct, they'll put it on their job run, providing they work for that particular agent, and get paid to remove them with or without the agents permission!
  2. This sounds really good, is the sticker room free or as it's part of the exhibition do you have to pay? thanks!
  3. Hi Renata, that is fabulous news, a relief to us all! However I do feel the staff who run the 1 O'Clock Club could be kept up to date and better informed as it was one of them that told me of the closure threat last week. Please can you keep us posted regarding the progress and how long the club will be temporary closed whilst the rebuild happens. Curmudgeon re "as for to be honest I'm sick of the closing - not-closing One 'O'Clock club conversations" - so sorry to bore you, just ignore the thread if you feel that way!
  4. I have finally received the green light for the e-petition. You can now sign the campaign for saving the 1 O'Clock Club - Peckham Rye, please spread the word... Campaign to save the 1 O'Clock Club Cheers!
  5. Hi oimissus, snowboarder and nunheadmum appreciate your thoughts and comments and understand your issues regarding timings. Hopefully the opening hrs can be suggested and addressd if there is another meeting. My daughter dropped her naps some time ago (she's 2yrs 5 mths) and as a late riser we missed and actually still can't manage to get to morning activities. I used to bust a gut to get to Rhyme Time at the library! You're little ones will eventually drop the naps and maybe you'll use the 1 o'clock club some day down the line. I agree with you Fuschia, I certainly wasn't meaning to cause offense to others who had previously discussed or continue to fly the flag in saving this centre. I suppose i'm trying to create some attention. I would hate to sit here quietly awaiting news to eventually be told they are axing it....no news is good news yes? But nobody seems to know what's happening and maybe those with the authority are secretly hoping they can close it quietly without any fuss. I just want to help keep it open in whatever way I can....In my mind talking it up seems to be the only productive way to do it at the moment....
  6. Thanks Alieh and Nikki73 and for the previous commentors, I couldn't agree with you more. Other than what I am and have done so far I am also unsure what to do next. My daughter is a late riser so i too find it difficult to find afternoon activities and would be lost if the One O'Clock Club closes. I still haven't heard back from Renata and am still awaiting the e-petition to go live...which I will post as soon as, meanwhile I just don't want the subject to drop off radar! Thanks guys, lets just keep speading the word....
  7. Going to chase up the situation today, slightly disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm, support and concern the threat of this closure is having. With the large volume of babies and toddlers in and around East Dulwich/Peckham etc I had hoped lots of like minded people would at least comment....350+ people may have looked at this thread (10 of which is me dropping in and out - at least!) but very few have taken the time to add their thoughts. Surely someone must have some info or want to express their poitive/negative feelings on the subject. If this place is being discussed then someone who has the authority to keep this place functioning will see the community wants this place to remain operating or develop what already exists. Come on "January Blues" are over and now so is my rant!
  8. Thanks admim for the speediest thread move I have ever seen!
  9. Hi, I managed to start a thread in the wrong section, how can this be moved? It's currently in the Family Room Classifieds and would benefit more from being in The Family Room Discussions....It's The One O'Clock Club - Peckham Rye NEDS SAVING...thanks!
  10. I have no more news but a friend found this on Facebook....Please can you all comment or LIKE...Thanks!Save The 1 O'Clock Club - Facebook Page
  11. Had a reply from Renata.... Hi Sarah, I haven't had an update, so I presume the negotiations are still ongoing, but I will chase this up and get back to you next week. Kind regards Renata
  12. I have just inboxed Renata Hamvas to see what progress has been made and our concerns... I'll let you know what rsponse I receive....
  13. Hey Fuschia, thanks for highlighting the thread....I probably only saw save the Crystal Palace One O'Clock Club threads and probably didn't look far enough back. Looks like no info has been added since Dec re the Ivydale Centre taking over. I think I'll try and get in touch with Renata Hamvas. I really got the wrong end of the stick when I read they would take over! It has gone worryingly quiet and it certainly wasn't brought up in the conversation I had with the staff yesterday. I suppose keeping the discussion fresh and going proves a need for the 1 o'clock club so I certaily wont let it drop.....hope you guys and more are on board. I new and improved building would be fabulous!
  14. Hey Fuschia, was not privy to that info...like I said in my original thread I only found out today about the threatened closure and tried to find info surrounding this on here and beyond. The staff were keen to get anyone to pick up the fight to keep it open, not only for the their jobs, infact they didn't even mention that, it was more for the services it offers. The Ivydale centre has been running a while and I have friends that use it frequently and having been there too is extremely good and well equiped (quite a trek for me though!). If I recall the external area they have does not offer the space the 1 o'clock does and the variety of external toys and climbing frames. Surely closing the Peck Rye 1 o'clock club would still be detrimental to childrens play groups in Southwark, it would certainly put pressure on places like the Ivydale Centre and health and safety would prevent large numbers. I have been turned away from the Ivydale Centre due to over popularity. The beauty of the 1 o'clock club is the hours it is open and the "drop in" attendees it satisfies over the period of the 3+hrs it's opened for. (Which has already been reduced from 5 days to 3). I am a stay at home mum and rely on such places as I can't afford to pay for 30min - 1hr activities that you find around here that are privately run. I have never been turned away from the 1 o'clock club due to over capacity and suspect that would happen should they merge it with the Ivydale Centre. Do you know how this would work then?
  15. Checking for the validity of e-petition can take up to 7 working days...will post as soon as I have the green light.
  16. Thanks Tinkerbell, I have just signed one up...it needs to be checked and I have to wait for an email confirmation and will post the link. Aparently 100,000 signatures are required before it can be debated in the House of Commons...I was also of thinking of heading out with a clip board petition when I do my daily rounds of the parks and shops! Going to need lots of help me thinks!!!
  17. I discovered today from one of the lovely staff at Peckham Rye One O'clock Club that sadly they are being threatened with closure. The closure is likely to be as soon as April 2012....Start of the new budget year. I have searched on here for any activity regarding saving this most needed community childrens centre and other than info re the Crystal Palace One O'clock Club closure, I am unable to find anything. Myself and 2 other Mum's I got chatting to today are keen to start petitioning, I have no idea what I am doing so thought I would start here to see if I can get some interest, advice and basically start the ball rolling. I was told we need to start getiing names and signatures of at least 500/600 people to send to Parliament and get their attention. Further down the line perhaps get the South London Press to cover the story, also approach Harriet Harman our Peckham Rye MP and James Barber. People we need to stop this place from closing, but in doing so need some serious help. If anyone has started such a petition please let me know as I am willing to help in which ever way is possible and I have other Mum's willing to do the same. PLEASE HELP!!!
  18. Did anyone experience the disaster that was Bank Holiday Monday at the Dulwich Woodhouse? We had booked in advance a table for 8 @ 2.00p.m to celebrate my daughters 1st birthday with my family who had travelled up from Sussex. On arrival it was pretty busy but with the sun shining we looked forward to the advertised "weather permitting BBQ". We were shown to our table, then left to our own devices, we managed to find our own menu's and once we had been served a round of drinks we had bought from the bar, we overheard the next table say they had been waiting for their food for 2 hours. Having complained to the staff they were likely to wait at least another 20 mins for their food. A number of their party were young children that were beyond hungry, they voiced further complaints and then had additional problems getting a refund on their food orders as they were not prepared to wait any longer. They were not given a receipt when the order was placed as the machine had broken, so they battled to get their money back. Another table had paid ?200 in advance for a private party celebrating an 18th and had similar waiting times for food. I sent my cousin to speak to someone to be told exactly how long the wait would be as I had my one year old to consider. He came back informed that they had closed the BBQ and we were looking at over an hour + for food to be served. It was a nightmare, we decided to head to an old reliable fave The Crown & Greyhound (Dulwich Village) Although busy we were served and fed fairly quickly, but our lunch ended up being a 4.00pm meal! I would have preffered to have been contacted (they had our contact details) and warned about the wait, or advised on arrival, instead we witnessed many disgruntled customers voicing their complaints and utter chaos. Needless to say...we wont be going back.
  19. Sincere apologies Jah Lush, I'm new to this and thought I was adding to the previous thread....thats me told off.
  20. I heard that Trevor Macdonald lives on Barry Road?...not seen him out and about though! The ex-inspector from the bill was in the FHT on wednesday afternoon....he's busy then?! I also saw Gillian, whatsherface...the food doctor, sitting outside The Uplands...this was last year though!
  21. Unfortunately our flat flooded back in July, as did the gallery on Upland Road....this is the second time our property has flooded since moving in back in Dec 2005. I am currently on a mission to get Thames Water to do something about it...but my patience is wearing thin, chasing contents insurers, loss adjusters and T.W, I regularly find myself banging my head against a brick wall. Until something similar happens to the big wigs within these companies I doubt much will be actioned? The chances are it's going to happen again, and again and again....Is there anyone out there who has suffered from flooding in E.D who wants to join forces in challenging T.W???? If not I feel better just for having a bit of a moan!!!
