  1. 2 underbed storage containers on wheels. The covers are transparent and the zip can close (to keep out dust). The wheels can move in all directions. They run well. They have been used to store shoes in, so will need a good clean. You could take the covers off and wash them. Free. Collection from Whateley Road, SE22. They were bought from Amazon for £40 for both. See the details https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0CGZC8CJY?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title It says each one is 30.9*17.3*5.3 inches, 48L large capacity
  2. Another recommendation for Kam. He painted our built-in wardrobe last week and he did a great job! Photo attached.
  3. Thanks CPR Dave for the link to Southwark's leaf cleaning schedule. Good to see that. I think that what may have happened was the leaves weren't cleared during the scheduled week for Whateley Road, which was w/c 17 November. Then they were cleared a couple of weeks ago instead. We have been here through all of autumn, and there has been a steady build-up of leaves on this stretch since October. At one point there was a deep layer to wade through. The photos I posted were from 17 December, and as you can see, the leaves had been trampled and compressed into the ground. It looked a lot worse at times. Lots of school kids from the primary school walk up and down this pavement. In case this happens next year, I have found a contact page about streets https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking-streets-and-transport/contact-us-about-transport-and-roads - so I could ask them what their plans are.
  4. The Plough Cafe, on the other hand, is excellent (for breakfast and lunch).
  5. This is a characterful chest of drawers. A label on it has the brand 'Lloyd Loom' and it says 'British hand made woven furniture'. Wooden with a kind of woven material, like rattan. Sturdy and well made. The drawers run well. 70cm width 50cm depth 102cm height There is a small headboard that can be attached to the back. There is also a sheet of glass that can be fixed to the top, if required. £45. Collection from Whateley Road in East Dulwich, SE22. The drawers can come out. The chest would fit into a normal car, with back seat down.
  6. This is a compact carpet cleaner. We bought it but didn't use it much in the end because we got our white carpets replaced with a darker colour. Only used about twice. It's in a very good condition. Comes with attachments and instructions. For more details see: https://www.vax.co.uk/spotwash-spot-cleaner Selling for £15. Collection from Whateley Road, East Dulwich, SE22
  7. I am wondering what is normal in terms of the council clearing leaves on East Dulwich streets. I took these photos of the pavement on Whateley Road on 17 December. It had been like this for a couple of months. When it was wet or icy, the leaves were a slipping hazard. They also got mushy and were sludgy and unpleasant to walk on. I have seen another street near here with a similar amount of leaves, and there may be others. I saw someone (I assume from the council) clearing away some of the leaves last week. However, there is a leafy brown sludge left on the pavement which is not too nice! Wondering what's normal. If this isn't, does anyone know how to contact the council about it?
  8. Andy Burke came very quickly to sort out a blocked drain outside. All was unblocked and it is now running smoothly!
  9. When I've tried to phone Dulwich Leisure Centre reception in recent weeks, I've been put through to an answerphone and haven't spoken to a person. Have others found this? Are they not taking calls anymore?
  10. Unexpected events can mean you can't attend a booked swim. I think a 4 hour cancellation period is fine. It leaves enough time for people to be able to take the place after it's cancelled.
  11. I would also like to recommend Marius. He has built a very good bespoke fitted wardrobe for us, to fit into an alcove space. He was also patient listening to our requirements. The wardrobe is perfectly fitted. Marius - 07459 195 564
  12. The Firazza pizza place (near Spinach) looks closed and there's a possession notice on the door?
  13. This is a garden table for 2-4 people. 90cm diameter. Has a parasol hole Made of cast aluminium. Very good size for a small garden. We've had it for one year. Getting rid of it because we have another table and don't need this one. collection from Whateley Road, East Dulwich, SE22 9DE. £10.
  14. This printer & scanner works well - it connects either by WiFi or bluetooth. It prints in black or colour. The ink has run out so you'd need new ink. The model is HP Envy 4500. You need the 301 HP ink - as shown in photo. If you just want black ink, you don't need to replace the colour cartridge. £5. Collection from Whateley Road, East Dulwich.
  15. Why is it that cars can park in a bus lane? Seems bizarre. It just means the buses are held up by a single parked car.
  16. This bus route would be great. Even though it's close, it often seems tricky to get to Clapham. It would also be good to have another bus route to Brixton. It feels hard to get there.
  17. Thanks all! KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day. And the last time I checked, Ayres bakers in Nunhead don't do fresh cream things. These are the kind of fresh baked goods I'm thinking of....
  18. So far, I haven't come across a bakery in East Dulwich or the surrounding areas which sells baked goods with fresh cream, other than Greggs on Peckham Rye. I'm thinking of things like chocolate eclairs and cream buns. I passed by the bakery in West Dulwich the other day - it looked traditional so I hoped they might sell some, but sadly when I asked they said they don't sell things with fresh cream. Same for the bakery in Nunhead (I heard they used to, years ago). Does anyone know of any bakeries near here (or further afield) which do sell these? I should say that the M&S chocolate eclairs (the standard ones) are very good and they use proper fresh whipped cream, so I am thankful for that!
  19. It would be interesting to know who the landlord is, how much the rent was increased by, and the reasons for the rise.
  20. Have seen this on the BBC - BBC News - Brockwell Lido is shabby and neglected, say users https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cz604y93y2xo
  21. I have also noticed bleeping. I can only hear it when the window is open at the front. I'm on Whateley Road, quite near the Lordship Lane end. Initially I thought it was a neighbour's smoke alarm running out of battery.
  22. These guys have done a great job for us today - they have cut back and controlled some wild and unruly plants and have sorted out our roses. I would highly recommend them.
  23. i tried to take an alternative route in an Uber to get to Denmark Hill - to avoid goose green - but then got stuck in these instead! Have these appeared recently?
  24. We live on Whateley Road, and the back gardens of Silvester Road back onto us. In one of the gardens near ours, on the Silvester Road side, there's someone who frequently plays loud music during the day. This happens in the summer (it happened a lot last summer too). It is often on weekdays. I realise that on a terraced block you are of course going to hear your neighbours going about life and being outside. But this is so loud, and I doubt everyone on the block wants to hear their music....! I'm working from home today and I have the window shut to try to reduce the noise, which isn't ideal in this weather! I will try to locate the house and ask them to turn it down (though I imagine other neighbours have tried to do the same). Just wondered if anyone else has come across this issue or similar issues, and how you've dealt with it. Thanks!
  25. Sorry to miss this - I wanted to come but couldn't make it this time!
