Thanks so much everyone for the recommendations. We will try Zeret and Flygerians to start with. -
Recommendations for good African restaurants in the area?
Katherty replied to Katherty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Any of them! Is the cuisine very different between countries? I don't know enough about African food. -

I picked up this leaflet after I donated the other day. -

Thank you - I will go to Ayres bakery soon and hope for a fresh chocolate eclair. -

It would be good to have an old-school, no-frills bakery somewhere on LL! (with fresh chocolate eclairs and the like). You hardly get those in London anymore. -
Dulwich Park when it closes at night
Katherty replied to Katherty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Does the gatekeeper announce that they're closing the gates with a megaphone or anything? -
I was out in the park till just before 10pm today. A lovely warm evening. There was a moment when it seemed very quiet and I wondered if it had closed and I was locked in. Luckily it was still open. Wondering if there's a warning that it's closing? Does anyone drive round to check no-one's about? Has anyone ever been locked in all night?

For people who shop in Bora and find it good value, what are the best products? I don't mind paying a bit more if the fruit is tasty and it lasts longer. Plus you can get the exact quantities you need (e.g. one pepper rather than a whole bag).

Caribbean food - any recommendations?
Katherty replied to Katherty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks so much everyone for the great recommendations. I'll be trying rice & peas this week, and will then go on to try some of the others. -
Hello, we live in East Dulwich and have been wanting to find a good place for Caribbean food (either eat-in or takeaway). Any recommendations in East Dulwich and the surrounding areas? Thank you.

The maps by the entrances to the park label the wooded path as a jogging track. Thanks very much everyone for the helpful info and contacts! I will try and talk to the park office. Does anyone know where this is in the park? I don't think I've noticed it. If not, then I'll walk around to find it. Thanks for this. It was that general parks email address that I emailed several weeks ago, but I didn't hear back. I have tried calling the Dulwich Parks number but didn't get through - but will try again soon, if I can't locate their office in the park.

The gardeners for Dulwich Park do an amazing job and the park is looking lovely. I was wanting to contact them about the wooded jogging track round the edge of the park. A lot of it has nettles and thistles growing over the path, making it difficult to run without getting stung! I contacted the Southwark Council email address for parks a few weeks ago, but didn't get a response. Wondering if anyone knows how I can contact Dulwich Park directly. Thank you.

I had an pizza from Due Fratelli yesterday and it was amazing. Really fresh and tasty. It's a nice restaurant inside. The outside is a bit misleading (looks like a takeaway place from out outside). They do takeaways too.

Lots of ducklings in Dulwich Park the other day.

Hello, we are hoping to find a good place for a Sunday roast. One with crispy roast potatoes and all the trimmings! Would anyone be able to recommend one in East Dulwich? Thank you!

I gave this squirrel in Dulwich Park an almond. I was impressed at how it could munch it when clinging upside down on a tree. How can the nut go down (or up) its throat into its stomach?

148 Chinese was indeed very good. Especially their sesame prawn toast. A very friendly place too.

I agree @Alec1! I also like a Chinese which does the classics, like a good sweet & sour chicken! I agree @Alec1! I also like a Chinese which does the classics, like a good sweet & sour chicken! Thanks everyone for the recommendations. Planning to try 148 Chinese tonight!

This is very sad news. We moved here last year and Dulwich Cafe was one of my favourite places on Lordship Lane. It did a great jacket potato at lunchtime and the staff were great. It will be missed.

Wondering where the best places are in the area for a Chinese (either takeaway or eat-in)? Are there some good ones? Thank you!

The best place for a sandwich in East Dulwich?
Katherty replied to Katherty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have at last managed to try out a sandwich at Heritage Cheese. I had a focaccia one and it was amazing. I loved how the outer bit was slightly crispy. Thanks for the recommendation! -
