  1. Thanks! I do use it too, if I know I want something specific. But I really like the experience of browsing and finding unexpected things too.
  2. Apparently the 'improvements' include fewer books, which I'm not happy about.
  3. I'm being pedantic, but this is a pouffe not a beanbag! 🙂
  4. The receptionist did request a phone call and there was an issue where seeing the symptoms would have been helpful , plus I had questions I wanted to ask - but I just got a text with very generic advice (e.g. if X happens, go to A&E). You can definitely request routine appointments by phone. Perhaps it's at the doctor's discretion with same day ones. Having said all that, I think it's a pretty good surgery compared to some.
  5. I was also told I could only do a same-day appointment online but the form wouldn't accept my details so had to call and they did the online form! Then instead of getting a call back from the doctor as I used to, I got a text which wasn't much help and didn't allow me to ask any questions. When you do get to see the doctors they're generally great but the process is very difficult.
  6. I love the library and go regularly, but noticed recently the fiction shelves were getting depleted. When I asked the reason, I was told that the library was being refurbished (fine) and that there would be fewer books afterwards (to make room for other facilities I think) so they were starting to pare down their stock. This didn't make me happy! While I appreciate the wider role libraries play in the community, surely the core purpose of a library is the books? The staff suggested I contact Southwark Council about my concerns. I emailed the relevant councillor but never got a reply.
  7. My reliable 24 year old daughter - in full-time employment - is looking to move from her current 2-bed flat to single person accommodation in south-east London, as her flatmate is leaving London. Her budget is around £1000, including bills and she will need somewhere from mid to late November. Please message if you have/know of somewhere suitable. Thanks.
  8. Thank you. That's very helpful. The last garage I took it to seemed mystified and although they fixed it has reoccured. I'll look into a Fiat dealer but I'm quite short on funds so was hoping someone knew someone good locally.
  9. Hi - can anyone recommend a car electrician locally? I have a Fiat 500 with an electrical problem. Thanks.
  10. I used to go to Brockwell all the time - when you could pay and spend all day swimming and sunbathing. Then around Covid time they reduced each slot to 1.5 hours (for the same price!) and have never - as far as I can tell - reverted to the old system (hard to be sure as nobody ever answers the phone!) It completely changed the experience. I have recently been to Tooting lido a few times which is much nicer. You get 4 hours per session (3 sessions a day) and they clean it each day between sessions. It's so big it's not difficult to get a space there and although it's further I have switched my allegiance! With Dulwich pool still closed, it's a shame Brockwell has gone downhill.
  11. There was an email to members saying they'd get a refund - but only if they didn't use any of the other local pools - which we'd been advised to do! I've been going to Camberwell or Peckham, which takes up more of my day and costs more in the meantime, but feel very disappointed in the protracted closure as I became a member to use my local pool.
  12. I also enjoyed it there. Generous portions, good value and friendly staff.
  13. I live locally and am on Lordship Lane and North Cross Road most days. I've never been forced into traffic, or noticed any problem in any of these places! I appreciate that might be different with a buggy or mobility aid. I like to see people enjoying themselves outside.
