  1. Oh - I thought this was a new post and a new plan! I now see it's from a year ago! I did comment before but understood that they still planned to go ahead.
  2. I love Greendale and would like to speak out against any attempts to build, tame or spoil. However when I go to 'make a comment' on the link in the first post, it says none are being accepted. Please advise.

    Front gate

My front gate has expired! Does anyone have an unwanted one - ideally wrought iron? Many thanks.

    Nice little car

My trust VW Passat is not going to make it through its next MOT this summer and am looking to replace it with something smaller and cooler (but reliable) for my daughter - who has recently passed her test - and I to share. Something like a Fiat 500 or VW Beetle would be ideal, but will consider anything available. Or any advice on where to get one.
  5. I've lived on LL (in the vicinity of the Lordship pub) since 1994 and have never been disturbed by the traffic. People are always surprised how quiet the back garden is. We have glass shutters in the front bedroom which probably helps but even in the front room which is single glazed I don't find it bad. I like being here because it's so quick to pop out for anything and you can get a 176 back from the West End which virtually stops at the door.
  6. I dread putting air in tyres although I have no arthritis - I just find it difficult 🙂 One of my tyres was deflating really regularly and the Tyrrell Road garage told me it was to do with the wheel and not the tyre and as my car is getting on they said I should just keep pumping up the tyre (my worst nightmare!) as it wasn't worth replacing the wheel. I ended up doing this every few days until I finally took it to Wheel Power in Brockley. They told me it was a straightforward puncture which they fixed for £20! So have lost confidence in Tyrell Road although agree they're friendly and nice. I can recommend Wheel Power although not as local.
  7. Does anyone know one? Finding it hard to track one down.
  8. I think that people forget to cancel sometimes, hence empty lanes.
  9. Keys with a miniature lego man and gold skateboard on keyring lost last night on Peckham Rye. Attachments have sentimental value! Please help 🙂
  10. We'd best avoid any flippant comments on a local London forum, as sure it will make a big difference to people in the Ukraine, not to mention making some people on the forum extremely ANGRY and prone to using UPPER CASE.
  11. They were not making a comparison with Ukraine. That was you!
  12. Whether I think it's funny or not isn't the point. It just seemed obvious that a photo of a tiny fire with a post heading about Dulwich being 'war torn' wasn't meant seriously!
  13. OF COURSE they were joking! I'm amazed anyone could read it otherwise.
  14. It IS cheaper for my friend to commute on a Lime. She looked into it and wouldn't be doing it otherwise. And you still get exercise on a Lime, just a bit of help going up hills etc! I don't see why Lime bikes are considered more of an eyesore than cars and wheelie bins. You get the odd one left obstructively, but it doesn't seem like a big issue to me. Cars are increasingly being discouraged with an increase in parking and driving restrictions so perhaps long term there will be fewer and hire bikes (which take up far less space) will not be perceived as such an issue. While Limes aren't cheap, I'm sure they're more economical than buying, maintaining, insuring and parking a car. I do have my own bike, but sometimes I don't want to risk locking and leaving it somewhere, or I'm not feeling very energetic, or I just want to get back home quickly from a local station, in which case Limes are great. There are also many places buses don't serve - my daughter uses one all the time to visit friends - or where parking is impossible. I feel they're a great innovation and will be sad if this killjoy attitude affects them.
  15. Also - alien concept I know - they're FUN! And great for young people who can't/don't want to drive.
  16. I don't use them regularly but I know someone who commutes daily on one because it's cheaper than a train. When I do use one I don't find it heavy at all - it's electric so no effort required! It's progressive in terms of being non-polluting, better for the environment and accessible for people who may not want or be able to afford a car - or prefer not to be stuck in a motionless bus indefinitely. Since they closed many roads locally public transport and driving take far longer. On one occasion it took me half an hour to get to Camberwell!
  17. I love the Lime bikes and think it's a really positive thing - good for the environment, good for health and really convenient. I'm pleased there are more as it can still be difficult to find one, so I'm clearly not alone in finding them useful. I'm a resident and see no problem with them at all. I know lots of people who find them a godsend and haven't heard anyone complain except for on here. Part of the joy is that they can be picked and dropped off anywhere. I find it surprising that people find fault with something so inoffensive and progressive.
  18. Hello. Can anyone give me a good price for getting rid of my old, dismantled kitchen units? Thanks!
  19. Hi. I have some pigeons that seem to have taken up residence on my roof and have reared a number of chicks there (I can confirm baby pigeons do exist!). They are next to a skylight window which is getting covered with leaves and other stuff and they are driving me mad with their cooing! I'd like someone to go up with a ladder and get rid of them and their mess and put something there to deter them (chicken wire?). Can anyone help? Thanks.
  20. Local tree surgeons A Cut Above Tree Management just did a great job cutting back my cherry tree. They were polite, efficient, tidied up after themselves, left me some firewood at my request and even managed to not damage the fairy lights around the tree. The tree still looks good but I have much more light and sun in the garden. My neighbours are pleased too. Having got a number of quotes, I know the price is competitive too.
  21. Very sweet little pink Converse shoe found on Lordship Lane. It's on the wall outside no. 180 (opposite the Lordship pub)
