  1. Female lodger needed for comfortable room in house with garden (and cat) on Lordship Lane available from late July/early August. £700 pcm including bills and 2 week deposit. Single bed, but a pull-out can turn it into a double. Photos show room with current lodger's possessions! Message me to find out more.

    sun lounger

Both my sun loungers decided to break at the same time! Any one got one or two to spare? Thanks.
  3. I used to go to Brockwell all the time - when you could pay and spend all day swimming and sunbathing. Then around Covid time they reduced each slot to 1.5 hours (for the same price!) and have never - as far as I can tell - reverted to the old system (hard to be sure as nobody ever answers the phone!) It completely changed the experience. I have recently been to Tooting lido a few times which is much nicer. You get 4 hours per session (3 sessions a day) and they clean it each day between sessions. It's so big it's not difficult to get a space there and although it's further I have switched my allegiance! With Dulwich pool still closed, it's a shame Brockwell has gone downhill.
  4. There was an email to members saying they'd get a refund - but only if they didn't use any of the other local pools - which we'd been advised to do! I've been going to Camberwell or Peckham, which takes up more of my day and costs more in the meantime, but feel very disappointed in the protracted closure as I became a member to use my local pool.
  5. I also enjoyed it there. Generous portions, good value and friendly staff.
  6. I live locally and am on Lordship Lane and North Cross Road most days. I've never been forced into traffic, or noticed any problem in any of these places! I appreciate that might be different with a buggy or mobility aid. I like to see people enjoying themselves outside.
  7. Post system seems to be broken. I posted a Mother's Day card first class on Thursday at the cost of £1.50 and it still hasn't arrived.
  8. I think there already are separate entrances and changing rooms. The swimming entrance and changing room is through the left turnstile and for the gym it's on the right. But you're right about it working for them rather than the customer!
  9. Very frustrating for people who just swim that yet again the pool is closed and I'm told it won't be a 'quick fix'. The membership price is about to increase considerably and I'm basically getting nothing for my money at the moment. On top of that, 2 shower doors are missing, there's only one hairdryer (finally, after months) and the pool filter has been broken so we've been swimming in unfiltered water. I've emailed a few times to express my feelings about this as I don't see why we should be paying for a service we're not getting. I hope others in a similar position will too. I also think it's a pity they don't do a swim-only (and perhaps gym-only) membership at a discounted price as there are plenty of people who only use one facility.
  10. Yes I'm really disappointed. It's not even been there that long so can't have been well built/maintained.
  11. I did 🙂 straight after posting the above I just got the following reply from the Park Officer: Thank you for contacting the Park Service about the boardwalk over Dulwich Park lake. Whilst remaining closed, the bridge has been thoroughly inspected and assessed for repair or rebuild options and as a result of this assessment it has been found to be uneconomical to repair and for health and safety it will need to be dismantled and removed. A replacement boardwalk has not been decided but is being investigated. Once we have new information it will be shared with the community of park users like yourself and local councillors but the bridge will remain closed. I hope this helps,
  12. I've also been wondering about this. I haven't seen anyone carrying out the 'essential repairs'. It seems a shame (and a waste of money) to create this nice feature and then let it fall into disrepair. I used to enjoy standing on it and looking at the ducks and so did many other people, including children. Walking around the lake isn't the same at all.
  13. I can't remember how much or what they were - some sort of supplement or vitamin. They were a special offer but definitely not free.
  14. Those samples on trays weren't free. I assumed they were and asked!
  15. How mean-minded to call the creative project of a group of enterprising youngsters, using their time productively 'foul'? Surely taking the initiative to set this u,p so young people can be outside and exercising is a positive and productive thing to be admired? 'Underage drinking and drugs' are more likely to happen when young people have nowhere to go and nothing to do (plus they can take place anywhere!) . How is a derelict pub better?
  16. I was wondering if they were ever going to fix the boardwalk over the pond in Dulwich Park.
  17. I've had a questionnaire through the door about introducing this where I live (no!!!). It doesn't appear to say anywhere how/where you're supposed to return it! Could this be because they don't actually want to take opinions into account? Does anyone know how I submit the questionnaire?
  18. The phones have been down but think they're OK now. I don't know why they don't alert people on the website/app when this happens.
  19. Apparently the missing slots were reinstated when the pool reopened. All the local pools require you to book, but for some reason you can usually get them same day in Peckham or Camberwell while in Dulwich you have to plan agesin advance. . As you now get charged to not show up I don't imagine many people book and don't turn up, although they may book and cancel (which can only be done a minimum of 4 hours ahead) as that's often the only way to get a swim! I found it very frustrating that the pool closed with no updates on the app or website except for one before Xmas saying it would open on the 2nd or 3rd - which it didn't. It was impossible to get through to find out what was happening so I had to walk down and ask. They told me the phones were down but didn't bother putting that update on the website or app. I'm pleased it's reopened though!
  20. Earl - I live on lordship lane and can assure you there is more congestion and more pollution and buses take much longer, regardless of bus lanes - so it’s not making it better for public transport users or drivers. I - and many others - expressed our views in the appropriate forum of the consultation and they were disregarded so see no point in lobbying anyway.
  21. Anyone know what's happening with the pool? It was meant to reopen today and I have a swim booked. I've had no notification that it's cancelled and there are no updates on the app but the website says the pool's closed. The phone line is dead when I try to call.
  22. Of course they're just to generate revenue! There's no logic to them at all - if the restrictions are school hours then why do they apply during holidays? And if they're to decrease pollution or discourage car usage that's not working either. All they do is concentrate it in other areas - such as the constant queues outside Dulwich Village Infants and the Hamlet, not to mention the increased traffic, pollution and much slower buses on roads like Lordship Lane. The signs are obscure and confusing and the consultation was clearly just a box ticking exercise as they disregarded the results completely. I accept that the occasional fine is part of owning a car but you'd normally expect that in an unfamiliar area or circumstance - the number of local people who are getting caught out by this shows that it isn't clear (unless they're rich enough to not care, which I'm not!).
  23. I guess all I can do is wait and see! I've definitely been that way between 4.30 and 6 without an issue before. I'm pretty sure at least one signs says 3-4.30 not 3-6 to add to the confusion. I generally try to avoid going that way unless it's definitely a safe time but lost track because of the holidays. I struggle to see any benefit except for the council collecting all the fines and possibly the people who live in newly quiet roads. All the other roads (including mine) suffer from additional traffic and additional pollution.
