  1. Just want to add another recommendation for Patryk -he laid slate tiles and used our old Victorian tiles to make a pathway -it looks fantastic and he was tidy, efficient, full of good advice and really good value. The finish is excellent. I will definitely use his team again for any other garden/patio work.
  2. St marys is on 0207 277 6255. My little girl went there last year and loved it -thoroughly recommend it...
  3. Not sure if you want a full day nursery or a preschool but my daughter went to St marys preschool in Nunhead and loved it- experienced, kind, energetic staff team and a real community feel. Pm me if you want to know more... For full day I hear good stuff about the telegraph hill Montessori i think its called stepping stones?
  4. Hello family room- I just wanted to share this as I was horrified that we might have missed our offer and been in a right mess come September. We were offered a lewisham school we are happy with and our southwark letter said we didn't need to do anything else as it was our first choice. Luckily I'm a worrier so called lewisham admissions who told me that southwark need to formally accept it with lewisham to ensure the place. When I rang southwark they seemed to not know this -I had to e mail both teams to request they did this. I m waiting to hear back and will chase it until confirmed in writing! I just wanted to make sure anyone in the same situation at least made a call to check this out. (Lewisham basically said they don't operate the southwark first choice automatic acceptance policy)... Mae x
  5. Can I recommend st marys preschool in Nunhead-takes children from 2 I think and is 9.15-12.15. The staff are very longstanding yet still enthusiastic, kind and warm. It's not very well know but it's absolutely lovely and my daughter has thrived there and loves going.
  6. I second Nunhead surgery- dr Williams, dr roe and dr yu particularly are lovely and very helpful especially with small children. Receptionists are all very friendly and pleasant. They go out of their way to give a good service in my experience eg phoning you to discuss things if no appointments, chasing up vaccinations etc
  7. Network hair in Nunhead near the green- ?7, really nice cut and put my little girl of 3 at ease...
  8. Lots of people I know missed out on places at school nurseries which in some areas are very oversubscribed so I have to say I see where Minders coming from! Although I also agree, that at this age it shouldn't be a big deal to miss short periods from an educational perspective....
  9. I know this not quite what you asked but increased number of feeds doesn't have to mean a problem with supply rather this age is prime time for a growth spurt with increased night feeds to dial up more milk... Oh and I second Nuk bottles with the brown teats as the only ones that worked for my bottle refusers! Good luck!
  10. I had it and it turned out to be due to gestational diabetes which I assume has been ruled out. I was also worried about all the things you mention but was induced due to the GD and all went fine - no problems at all...x
  11. Santas grotto at the horniman? You have to book though...
  12. When did ivydale announce that as I was at an open day a couple of weeks ago and the head teacher said they couldn't say they would or wouldn't be at this point....
  13. Just thought I'd wave a flag for this lovely little preschool which seems to go under the radar when people are looking for nursery places....my daughter has just started and is loving it- the staff are very long serving yet still enthusiastic and warm (and unflappable!). She's been doing great activities every day and it has a lovely community feel. They have morning only places still available 9.15-12.15 for 2.6-4 years olds. Pm me if you are interested and want to ask anything. It's on St Marys Rd Nunhead near Hollydale and Edmund Waller primaries. Or of course call them :)0207 277 6255
  14. I agree with other posters- this surely runs the risk of turning Ivydale into even more of the "go to" school in Nunhead than it already is and sidelining other Nunhead schools like Hollydale and Rye Oak. My daughter will be starting in 2014 and has no chance of getting into Ivydale based on this years distances :(
