  1. Hi, I'm looking for some very flexible workers. Its for all sorts of jobs, from painting and decorating, to putting shelves up to assembling ikea - need you to just get on with whatever needs doing at the time. List of jobs will be provided. I'd be happy if you can work during normals hours/evenings/weekends (I can be as flexible as you need me to be so you can do this for extra cash on top of your other jobs if you want), as I'm also up against it time wise - but we can work this out once we speak. If you are skilled (chippys and sparks) and have tools, please get in touch too as there could be a few jobs I need you for too that I might not take on myself. Please contact me with your rates and the kind of things you can get on with. I'm happy to look at daily rates, or hourly. Work to start as early as next week potentially. Cheers Sean
  2. Hi there, Can anyone recommend or even just know of a person or shop who is one of those type people that can fix anything? I've got a part that needs replacing on my Apple TV and my projector is on the blink. Cheers Sean
  3. Hi all, I recently emailed the council to question this charge too, and this is the response I got: To clarify the term block is used by Southwark to define the building in which your property is within. So whether it be a flat within a large storey block or a flat within a Victorian house the definition is known as a block. The block lighting charge was invoiced to leaseholder following an electrical testing that took place to street properties borough wide. I have copied below some further information in regards to the electrical testing work. To comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations (EWR), Periodic Electrical Installation Testing is carried out at recommended intervals to ascertain the electrical installation is still in a satisfactory condition and hence is safe to leave in service Landlords and Employers have a legal responsibility to comply with the EWR, and could be prosecuted in the event of an incident, if it was seen reasonable practicable steps had not been undertaken ( Testing being seen as a practicable step). Evidence of the testing of electrical installations is seen as a high risk issue in fire risk assessments The main purpose of Electrical Periodic Testing is to detect so far as reasonably practicable, any defects impairing or likely to impair safety of the installation ? Safety of persons against the effects of electrical shocks & burns ? Protection against damage to property by fire and heat arising from an installation defect ? Confirmation that he installation is not a danger or deteriorated so as to impair safety ? Identification of any non-compliances, or installation defects which may give rise to danger
  4. Hi there, We live right next to Rye Hill Park on Peckham Rye itself. On the whole it seems fine. Don't see many unsavoury types around. It can be quite quiet, which I'm not sure is a good or a bad thing. i guess it depends on you! I did park my car around there before and someone stole the battery on account of the car being so crap, but thats about it. these things happen everywhere.
  5. that post was from Arnieberger. Logged in as my partner by mistake! whoops
  6. Thanks everyone, you have no idea what your kind posts mean. I really want to take the plunge, but have a natural trepidation as I'm sure understand.
  7. I could say the same thing to you tallulah71. You don't have to read about it, or post about it. Just because you don't want to read about it, doesn't mean others don't want to - judging by the amount of responses, I would say some do.
  8. haha piss off Timmy. I was in my PJ's. No time to get changed!
  9. I'm afraid my description of her wouldn't be very good - old ugly woman with a jack Russell, is about as good as I can do. I would've gone after her, but I was up stairs and by the time I got down, put my shoes on and gone outside, she probably would've been miles away. Very annoying. Anyway, I believe in karma, and I'm sure she'll get hers. The thing about cats is that you can't really control them, they do what they want, which is part of the attraction right? But dogs you can definitely control when and where they poo. If they do poo somewhere they shouldn't, clear it up!
  10. How would you like it if I came and had a crap in your front garden? This was no accident either as I saw that you were trying to hide from view behind our hedge. When I banged on the window you still had time to stop your dog, or clear up afterwards, but no - you looked up at me and walked away. You are pond life.
  11. Hello, I'm looking to set up a new business in ED/Peckham area and would like to start looking for properties to lease. I need something around the 2000 sq ft mark. It doesn't have to be retail or on a main road necessarily. If you can recommend any good estate agents, or you are a commercial estate agent - please get in touch. Cheers Sean
  12. Brilliant. Really helpful, thanks. Why even bother posting?
  13. Hi all, I'm looking for some inspiration. I'm organising a stag do, and want to know some fun/silly dares to do while we're out drinking. We're all in our thirties, so we're not interested in it all being about the drinking. Indeed, most of these dares will be just to give us a laugh, so that said person can avoid having to drink. I think that you get the picture. Any stories, or suggestions welcome. I just want to create as many laughs as possible on the day. Pm me or post, would love to hear from you! Cheers and merry christmas! Sean
  14. Does anyone know who the current landlord of the grove vale library that will be replaced is? I'd like to get in touch with them. Best, Sean

In response to this, I didn't have time to check as I had to jump on the bus to get to my footy match in time. But yes, the following day, the misses did call out the rac before looking under the hood as I was at work. To be fair, I would've known, but not tried to replace it....
  16. I thought it was odd when it didn't start the other day. Call the rac and imagine my surprise to see that the battery wasn't even there! It's not an expensive thing, so don't really care, but just telling everyone that we got it changed recently and a bloke was hanging around asking the rac man to fix his car....could be related? I don't know, just goes to show how crap the car is, if that's the only thing they could find worth nicking! Sorry for another negative post, I'm actually pretty philosophical about these things....they happen....
  17. People eating with their mouths open. Makes me feel sick.
  18. Brilliant, thanks for all the advice. Will have a read tonight....if I can find it!
  19. My worry is that because it was written by the estate agents that it'll say they have to stay on, and I have to keep paying, but this might not 'actually' be true....if you know what I'm saying?
  20. Hello all, I've been renting my property out for the past year under a management agreement with an estate agent. It's coming up for renewal as the year is up, but clearly, I don't want to pay the fees again because 1) they've done nothing over the past year to justify it, and 2) I don't need to find someone else to live there as the current resident is perfectly happy. So, how do I go about this? Do I just tell them that I am renting it privately from now on? Do I have to give them any notice to this effect? Can someone give me some advice please? Cheers Sean
  21. I went to one the other day called capital car boot in Pimlico - http://www.capitalcarboot.com/ Very good, got rid of lots of stuff and made a fair bit of cash too. Google it and I'm sure you'll find it.
  22. get your bike registered with the police, most bikes that get stolen are found a few miles down the road. the police have thousands in their lock ups which would've just been returned if they'd be registered.
  23. Just had my ikea kitchen installed about 2 weeks ago and we are very happy with it. One word of warning, the units go right to the back of the wall, they don't have any space behind for things such as pipes or cables, therefore your builder needs to cut out the back of them to make them fit usually (in old houses anyway). You'll be able to see the pipes when you open the units, it wasn't a big deal to us, but something to consider. The builders will tell you this themselves, but all the builders we got quotes from recommended Ikea kitchens. There are a few doors slightly out of line, but I think this is more to do with unstraight walls than the kitchen itself. We got a corian worktop fitted by a company in Leeds. We did research online and managed to get it for half the price we were being offered down here. I'd really recommend them as it looks great and was very reasonable. If you want details of builder and/or worktop people, just PM me.
  24. I'm a gooner, and feeling very chuffed indeed. Mainly because United dropped points again last night. Hopefully we can pick another 3 up tonight, and its game on for the rest of the season! Citeh's form is starting to worry me though, especially considering we've got them in a few days!
