The Pixies influenced a lot of bands and they had a new sound that wasn't derivative. I?ve just had a listen to Nimrod?s Son and the Pixies are as EXCITING as ever. Indie music is just CLONE music right now ? so dull. I?m getting the feeling the plethora of new indie bands just want to be famous (the disease of the noughties). It?s easy to forget that the Pixies weren?t clones. That?s what time does. BTW Keef - I have CDs of all four Pixie gigs at Brixton a few years back (2005?) and they get major play on my i-Pod; you?re welcome to have a loan if you think they might swing your vote.

Heh heh heh Keef - You've dissed the Pixies! Frank Black is a punk God. Surely you didn't mean THE Pixies. Is there another band called the Pixies that you've confused yourself with? Maybe a group of boys from Brighton that call themselves ?indie? and play barely disguised Beatles rip-offs? Not THE actual Pixies surely. I'm going for a lie down until the trauma wears off.

So who would play him/her in the movie? Sleepless in East Dulwich.
-
Err - it wasn't meant to be but, having taken another look, I do so exactly what you mean. "I like a bit of Polly in the mornings". Sounds dirrty. Do you think it might catch on?

Who would play her when the movie gets made?
-
That's fantastic CitizenED. I like a bit of Polly in the morning.

OK now I'm about to expose my mean streak. Here's a news story that made me pee myself laughing this week. http://www.nme.com/news/foo-fighters/39250 Basically a nobody band at Reading called the FFs got mistaken for the Foo Fighters. Yeah right. The Foos are so gonna cut short a US tour and pay air-fare just to play a tiny nothing stage at Reading. So a crowd of about 3,000 showed up all dizzy with anticipation and on came the poor old FFs to a very mean reception. Well that was so gonna happen. But here's where it gets freaky. After bottling off the FFs, the crowd actually hung around for the next band and bottled them off as well. For the love of God why would they do that? Was it a slow day? In my mind's eye I'm seeing the scene from the Life of Brian when Brian gets followed home and abused by his "followers". I'm sorry but that really cracks me up (I told you I had a mean streak). The funniest thing of all (for me) is that my friend Paul actually used the C word and called them all a bunch of mean-spirited Cs. My friend Paul NEVER uses that word so that alone sets me off and just the memory of it made me laugh out loud on the 176 this morning. Finally, if you believe the NME report, shoes were thrown at the stage. How freakin pissed off/stoned do you need to be to throw your shoes at someone and spend the rest of the day barefoot?

Pierre - it's you isn't it? You're the **** with the blue BWM on Sylvester Road. Let's get two things absolutely straight. Number one, I wear very high heels and I don't run fast. Number two, if you're going to flip me off then don't do it whilst singing along to Bon Jovi because that's just so wrong. -
Is it just me or are The Pogues getting more Christmassy than turkey and tinsel? How many nights at Brixton did they do last year? Did anyone from the forum go? Is there a view as to whether they might add the Saturday night? I would quite like to go but would prefer the Saturday. http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/artist/932291?camefrom=CFC_UK_BUYAT_beatthetouts&brand=uk_partner http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=search&referral_id=eshotlond&interface=amg&search=pogues&referral_id=tw_uk_buyat

Do you know how many f*ckwits there are on our roads (ballpark figure someone, anyone?). Jeez - imagine them all driving round Lambeth making judgement calls. I would never leave home again. -

Years ago I was at a business lunch once where one of my guest ordered, and ate, a plate of snails. I made an excuse to leave the table, went outside into the fresh air, and physically shook. I returned 10 minutes later (when the first course had been cleared) but, suffice it to say, it wasn't one of my best days.

Clive Honey, did you not see the word "irrational" in the title thread?
