  1. So it looks like Miss Zoe has now threatened the forum. What a classy woman (NOT).
  2. Hey, I'm angry so the kid gets it.... Although you have already given notice of leaving, if you did wish Jxxxxxx to continue or return to classes at SLDS at any point, please take this as notice that she would not be welcome to under any circumstances. What a bitch.
  3. Thin Lizzy deffo The Eagles Feetwood Mac
  4. Mine nearly killed me last month; prescribed drugs I have a serious allergy to without checking first.
  5. Texting me "how are you, fancy a drink?" is a whole different walk in the woods LeagleB, as well you know. That's much more to my liking. Px
  6. I made it to the Royal Academy for the Hockney this week and I wouldn't have missed it. I agree with what someone said before; that it could have done with a bit more editing; but I enjoyed most of it. I could have done without the Sermon on the Mount; it didn't look like it belonged with the rest of the work. The Yorkshire landscapes were inspirational and you could see them evolving from the ipad to the sketches to the oils. I wasn't expecting to see the earlier work but there were a couple of pieces from the Grand Canyon which were magnificent. This doesn't do them justice, but here goes: http://www.hockneypictures.com/home.php I was very impressed with the Academy for not packing people in. Given that it's been so popular they could have shoe-horned more punters in, making it an unpleasant experience for all concerned, but they didn't do that. They've extended the opening hours instead, so it is a comfortable experience and you don't feel like wherever you stand you're in somebody's way.

    New sofa?

I'm getting my new sofa here: http://www.sofa.com/ A Stella if anyone is interested. I went down to the warehouse a couple of Sundays ago for a recce to check out the quality and such. Nice people and comfy sofas and the place was packed out. Given it has no passing traffic so it's a destination shop only, I was impressed to find it so full.

Aaargh! > I texted them because I don't want a conversation. > If I'd wanted a conversation, I'd have bloody > phoned them! Guilty. I do that. I know it's wrong. But if I'm on the go and I need to text then I need to find my glasses in my handbag and faff around with my phone and it'll just take a nano-second to phone and relay the same information. So I'll concede that it's rude to reply to a text with a call; but I'm guilty as charged. Shoot me. If you texted me "how are you" though I probably wouldn't call you any time soon.
  9. Not so bad MM. How's yourself? Px Edited for fat fingers

I would be surprised if the Ford Escort manual hadn't been snapped up straight away *Bob*. It was a snip at a mere ?10. Even us piss-taking forumites wouldn't be able to resist a bargain like that.
  11. Sorry Katie Numbers - I couldn't help myself. I have bad fingers tonight. OK now I changed the name of the thread because I really want to know how people feel about receiving / sending texts that just say "how are you"
  12. Yes I agree. I think texting "how are you" is lazy and disingenuous. Although that's how I see things, am I wrong to see it like that? I'm not trying to have a rant about what I see as bad manners, I'm asking whether I'm wrong to see it that way. Is the world changing and I'm standing still? Am I a modern day King Canute, trying to fight off the inevitable? After all, it would be churlish to be nasty and grumpy to people who are genuine.
  13. Thanks Twirly. It's more the "how are you" types that don't sit right with me. Doesn't seem like a genuine approach. Any thoughts on that at all?
  14. So it's really just me then? Seriously? I'm really depressed now. What's a bobbin anyway for goodness sake?
  15. It isn't an Americanism. I think you'll find that that's Jewish humour that you're having a pop at there Voyageur.
  16. There I've said it. I hate texting. It has its place of course. Like sometimes you might have an arrangement to make and it can be easier, especially if there are lots of people involved. But if you need to go back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth then........ PICK UP THE PHONE! I just had a text that said "how are you". I deleted it. I just didn't feel the love. Is it just me? Px Edited to remove the word "already" for those who no likey
  17. What a thoroughly unpleasant person you obviously are. Your entire contribution to the EDF is on the for sale section. NEWSFLASH - the forum does not exist to enable you to de-junk. If you don't like the forum, or us, why not simply take your unwanted tat and pay for a pitch at a car-boot sale instead?
  18. Well done. My house has been insulated to within an inch of its life and powers itself (very efficiently) off solar energy panels. Not sure about any of the technical specifications. The house is very warm and I don't get big energy bills. Nice.
  19. I'm back to bang on about Mark Rylance some more. Richard III and Twelfth Night (with the wonderful Stephen Fry as Malvolio) are in rep this winter for a short run after opening at Shakespeare's Globe this Summer. Twelfth Night is already completely sold out for its run at the Globe. Tickets have gone on sale today for the winter run at the Apollo Shaftesbury Avenue. This is the same theatre where Mark Rylance wowed in Jerusalem last year. I know it seems like a long way off but I promise you, Rylance's Richard III will be a major performance and it will be a hard-to-get ticket once the reviews are in. Here's a link to buy today. You can also buy directly from the theatre. http://www.nimaxtheatres.com/ If you want to check the quality of the seats you're buying then use theatremonkey. http://www.theatremonkey.co.uk/
  20. Sue Wrote: > Eh? No my gigs are not "more expensive"! > They are ?11/7 advance, ?12/8 on the door. > How is that more expensive than ?15? > Somebody help me out here, am I being very thick? > > How do you define "cheap"?? > > ETA: Defintion of Cheap Actually Sue, your gigs are more expensive than the Hockney gig for those on low incomes. The Royal Academy has a range of entrance fees. ?15 is full price but, for example, ?6.50 (income support & jobseekers allowance); ?10.50 (student); ?5 (aged 12 to 18); and so on. My maths isn't the best but that looks like over 50% discount for those on income support, which compares well to your 33%. For those who can afford ?15 then I think it's cheap at the price but for those who can't then there are other options.
  21. This happened to me 20 years ago when I lived on Melbourne Grove and someone broke into next door's shed and stole something which they then used to pull my handbag from a kitchen counter and through the cat-flap. Spent 20 minutes looking for my handbag the following day before I figured it out.
  22. Go have lunch at Harvard followed by a nice long walk (looking effortlessly gorgeous like Ali MacGraw in Love Story).
  23. If I only went to things that Brian Sewell liked then I wouldn't get out of the house much.
  24. Hello Katie numbers. Nice to see you joyous. px
  25. To me David Hockney is a truly inspirational artist and after my first Hockney exhibition (many many moons ago) the way I saw landscapes was changed forever. I suddenly remembered at the weekend that I hadn't yet got my tickets for the Hockney Royal Academy exhibition. To my horror, when I went to book I found that almost every date and time slot was sold out. I managed to get tickets for Easter weekend but only just. If, like me, you'd been meaning to book but hadn't quite got around to it, then can I urge you to click on this link and book whatever you can get. Don't let it be the one that got away. http://www.royalacademy.org.uk/exhibitions/hockney/
