  1. As the Mum of a tongue-tied baby (not diagnosed until 6-8 weeks old) I think this sounds very similar to our situation. He used to arch his back and really fight against the breast, but when given a bottle was a lot better (you mention you've given a bottle, but not whether the same problem occurs?). We spent a lot of time perfecting the latch too, which at the end of it all was a futile exercise when he was still tongue tied as it didn't make any difference to his ability to be able to feed. We eventually got it fixed at Kings, and things steadily improved. His tongue tie, while "mild" in terms of being able to see it (it wasn't obvious at all to look at him) was bad enough to affect feeding. This may not be the problem in your case, but I just wanted to give my experience. Well done for perservering, I know how stressful it is in the early weeks with a baby not feeding properly. Good luck, and keep us updated. Pippa x
  2. She uses them to build fairy castles in tooth fairy land :) In NZ when I was growing up we got 10 cents for a bottom tooth and 20 cents for a top one. Was hoping to get away with the same when my kids start loosing their teeth, will try to convince them that 1 NZ cent is worth lots and lots of pounds!
  3. I'm wary of dogs, having been bitten by one (albeit a very small one) when I was a child. However I do my absolute best not to show my fear when I'm with my kids and we try as much as we can to interact with dog owners... my daughter loves dogs so we often approach friendly looking dog walkers and make conversation, pat the dog etc. We've been going to Peckham Park almost daily for the last 3.25 years and have never had a problem with dogs. I do see people with "scary" looking breeds, but we just ignore them and keep walking. I've never found myself in a position where I'm afraid a dog will attack the kids. I think like everything it's a case of keeping your wits about you and being sensible.
  4. We'll be there around 3ish x
  5. :)) I don't know what the science is behind the salt craving, but ooooooh, it's lovely isn't it?! I was the one licking the packet after eating the crisps :-S
  6. Salt and vinegar crisps and "zinger" burgers from KFC were my cravings. Fruit & veg in general turned my stomach, so yours sounds like a very healthy craving (but be sure to eat plenty of high fat/sugar foods as well while you still have the pregnancy excuse!) :)
  7. I cook meals for the whole family, and generally I sit down and eat with the kids at their teatime (5.30ish). Works well for me as I often have rehearsals in the evening once they're in bed, so saves me rushing to eat before I dash out the door.
  8. I'll give you some sling tying lessons Fuschia :) I loved the Hugabub, such a snuggly way to carry a little baby.
  9. Next Monday afternoon is good for us :)
  10. Pumpkin Patch do some lovely girls clothes, and you can buy online (or the nearest store is in Bromley).
  11. :)-D Thanks FRM!
  12. Oooooh, I hope owner and parrot are reunited soon!
  13. Poor wee thing. I think it's open from 9am today, pretty sure that's what it said on a sign on the door when I was there last week x
  14. You've been to two parks before 8:30am?! That's hardcore!!
  15. Sainsbury's is open today, so I would imagine their pharmacy is open too. Hope all's OK! P x
  16. Kate walks past my house nearly every day, she is ALWAYS on her phone. I've started wondering whether she's actually talking to someone, or just uses it as a cunning ploy to avoid having to talk to people!
  17. Just wanted to resurrect this thread to say a huge thank you to Miss Hope, I'm happily munching my way through a bag of liquorice satins :)) Yummy.
  18. Great photos, thanks for sharing. Such a shame that they've been demolished, what amazing buildings.
  19. We noticed this morning that it looks as if someone has been through our garden during the night (fence slightly damaged, outdoor lantern knocked over, plants trampled), could be linked as we live very close to Underhill.
  20. Belle, Little Bubbles website can be found here. We've been going for about 18 months, both of my kids love it.
  21. I'll be interested in responses to this, as my 3.25 year old speaks with a very prominent lisp when making the "S" sound. Cute as a 3 year old, but not sure it's something that will be so endearing as an adult! I did mention it to the speech therapist at Babble & Squeak last year and she didn't seem to think it was something to worry about at this age, but as my daughter is now speaking without a lisp it makes his seem even more obvious.
  22. Long haul (NZ) I've always been able to take the buggy right up to the plane, and have got it back on the air bridge as we've left the plane. Short haul within the UK we've also been able to take it right up to the plane, but more often than not it gets returned with the normal luggage. I think you'd probably struggle being allowed to take a framed back carrier on as hand luggage, as it would be difficult to fit in the overhead lockers. We've always used a Patapum (similar to an Ergo) for this purpose, which rolls up very small as it doesn't have a structured frame. P x
  23. Yes, we'd be up for doing it again, was good to see you all and my kids had a lovely time racing around stealing other children's crisps :-$ P x
  24. We'll be heading there at 3... hopefully others who showed interest last week will turn up and not leave me looking like a saddo sitting at a pub by myself with 2 small children!
  25. I think that may have been my first ever post on the forum Keef :) I frequently give away things for free, and my view is that if I'm giving it away I shouldn't care what then happens to it (perhaps there is money to be made, but generally it's things I don't think are worth the effort of trying to sell due to the small return). However it does annoy me a bit when I see things being constantly snapped up by the same person.
