  1. I noticed that too, love Adam Hills he's brilliant,
  2. Ha ha EDKiwi, so true :) I keep trying to remind myself that this is NZ living at it's best - heat the room you're in, freeze your t*ts off in the rest of the house. I managed it for 26 years, I'm obviously a soft Londoner these days!
  3. Thanks all... have a gas fire, oil filled heater kindly loaned by neighbours and a little fan heater cranked up high, but they're just not cutting it on a day like today. I've been having to boil water (which I'm proud to say I did without having to refer to the thread explaining how to do it) which is a good excuse to have the hob fired up, and it certainly helps to warm up the kitchen. Who's idea was it to live in a draughty Victorian house?!
  4. I'm cold :(
  5. :-S yep, stay away from our house, you can smell us from the end of the road! ... thankfully the ED community spirit has helped out and we've been using a variety of friends & neighbours showers! On the plus side the plumbers have just rung to say the required part will be in tomorrow morning, so with luck we'll be warm again by tomorrow evening. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
  6. I hope it waits until our boiler is repaired - we're on day 4 with no heating or hot water, not fun!!
  7. Yes, me too, haven't been up there since it changed from the old restaurant. Yes, let's go with 8pm, seemed to work well for most people last time.
  8. Following the success of Saturday we're doing it again. When: Friday 8th January Where: The Lodge (above the EDT) Some of you may notice that this date and venue just happens to be the same as the "main" EDF drinks that are happening for the month - hence "project descend" ;-) There was a suggestion that we all wear "I'm an ED Mum and proud" t-shirts, but perhaps we should keep a slightly lower profile! If I still had a Bugaboo I think I would take it along just to make a point! Hope to see as many of you there as possible. Pippa
  9. Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I would also recommend Jazz Barbers, the guy there is completely up to speed with all CBeeBees characters and has a great manner with small children (I think he has young children himself). I also recently took my son to Barry Road barbers and they were great too.
  10. Yes, I was going to recommend Mike (Bonyard) - his food is lovely, we pretty much lived on it for the first few weeks after I had my 2nd baby.
  11. I also have an eternity ring that my husband bought after no. 1 came along (and when I was already pregnant with no. 2, I think it was a "well done on having our son, sorry you're pregnant again so soon" ring!). The present I've most appreciated since having children (was a birthday present) was a day at the Sanctuary - she would have to wait a while until she could use it, but it's such a great treat when you've got small children as you completely switch off.
  12. Brilliant, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
  13. First time round my bump was referred to as "Cecil", but we didn't use it as his name! Second time round I had a name for my baby picked out in advance but kept it a secret... very important since I knew the sex of the baby, but my husband didn't! I'm still amazed to this day that I managed to get from my scan at 23 weeks till her birth at 37 weeks without letting slip, he didn't have a clue (and forgot to even look when she was born, I had to remind him!)
  14. Thanks Lorraine - we've got a gas fire in the front room and a couple of little fan heaters, so with those and a few extra layers of clothes I think we'll be OK.
  15. It's an old boiler and the fan has broken, had a plumber out this afternoon and need a new fan to be installed before it will fire up again. Typical that it happens just as the weather gets really cold! I think it's just a fluke that it happened on the same day that the gas supply went off!
  16. Gas is back on, but boiler now broken - joy of joys. New part ordered but expected to take 4 days to arrive :(
  17. We used to get it regularly when we lived in Jennings Rd, but since moving to Upland haven't had a single copy in 3 years
  18. Does anyone else find themselves tempted to put naughty words in, instead of the child's name?! B)
  19. Fuschia, we go to Little Bubbles on a Friday - it's at the church part way down Barry Road, she runs 3 classes (1st for under 2's, then 2 sessions for over 2's). I manage it with my two quite easily so I'm sure you'd be fine now that yours are slightly older. Check out the website for more details of sessions/venues etc.
  20. Can you believe this is the first chance I've had to come on and post... unheard of for an addict like me :-$ Really good night, thanks to everyone who came along - nice to catch up with those of you I already knew, and to meet a lot of new faces. I made it to my concert today with no problems (although admittedly a couple of painkillers were required this morning, but nothing too drastic!). And I jinxed myself by talking to Lorraine about the fact our heating is stuck on - of course now our boiler doesn't work, hubby has had emergency plumbers out, and we're facing the week without heating/hot water while we wait for a part. Grrrrrr. Now we just need to get "operation descend" underway, 8th Jan (I think, need to check the main board) - put it in your diaries now ladies!! Would love to see more of you next time. P x
  21. Hi Jane, Yes I'll be there, but can't help on the CD player sorry as we don't have one!
  22. Morning all, We've woken to find we have no gas supply in the house (Upland Road) - anyone else having problems?
  23. Children/finances/shortage of time mean I haven't dyed it Lorraine, so I was blonde, but am currently sporting my natural colour for the first time in about 20 years!!
  24. We're looking forward to it - but agree with a previous poster, please put up the route etc. here - we haven't seen an SE22 magazine for a couple of years in our part of ED!
  25. Don't forget, tonight's the night! Dust off a pair of heels and come and join us. I'll be there by 8pm, don't leave me alone in a pub looking like I've got no friends :) I'll be in a red strappy top (my one top that doesn't look too "Mumsy") and dark jeans, and have short dark hair.
