  1. I'm currently sitting in Singapore Airport enroute to the UK, it's early but busy. There is a brilliant soft play area for kids, which has three adults currently inside it sleeping! There are kids running all around them (being encouraged by parents to make as much noise as possible) yet still they sleep. How?! There are also other people who were sleeping nearby who were woken up by the noise of kids and complained! This airport is huge, with loads of places where you can go and relax, why on earth would you choose to set up a sleeping camp in the kids area? Madness.
  2. I've used Pauline, Shingo and Miguel at Kuki, all excellent.
  3. I'm happy to help! Having successfully stayed below my goal weight since I reached goal, I've let things slip a bit while in NZ (actually, I've been a complete and utter pig!) so have about half a stone to tackle when I get back to London next week. I will weigh in on Wednesdays. My biggest tip is that to successfully lose weight, no matter what way you do it, make sure you are eating the same food as the rest of your family. All family meals can be made in a healthy way, and for those that are not so good (macaroni cheese for example), just limit your portion size and fill the rest of your plate up with veges or salad. There is no way I would ever have managed to lose as much weight as I have if I was preparing separate meals for myself. Good luck!
  4. Jump on a plane and come to NZ... Took our 3 to the local pool this morning (slides, waves, rapids) - school holidays at 11am and in London frame of mind I thought it would be a nightmare, but we almost had it to ourselves, free parking, clean changing rooms... Sorry, not much help, but one of those days where I question my choice of country to reside in!
  5. Our kids go to lessons at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, and the lessons have been great. Simple enrolment process there too.
  6. I tend to agree with the last couple of posters - my son was a late walker, a bottom shuffler until he was around 22 months. There was a family history of it, so luckily we weren't worried, as I lost count of the number of well meaning people who approached me in the playground with advice, or sympathy about the apparent disability he had. I used to laugh it off, but had we not the family history it would have really stressed me out.
  7. After a couple of weeks in NZ I'm celebrating the choice we have in the UK. Every night here is a rip-roaring combo of Border Patrol, Police Rescue, High Country Rescue, Animal Rescue, Zoo Babies... Having searched the (limited) Sky Channels I was pleased to find UKTV, only to despair at the 10 year old episodes of Changing Rooms.
  8. My nearly 6 year old boy was terrible at getting dressed, and also was a very very slow eater. I doubted his ability to get changed for PE at school but when I mentioned it at parents evening was told that he was one of the fastest! Since starting year 1 I've noticed a huge change - he eats meals very quickly as at school they need to eat fast so they get plenty of time to play, and we make getting dressed in the morning a race (he shares a room with his reception aged sister) and most mornings it works well. The first dressed gets a sticker.
  9. Last year was the first time my kids got really excited about Christmas, they were 3.5 and 5. Before 3 they really didn't have a clue!
  10. High excitement here, thankfully as we are in NZ (very hot here!) there is plenty of opportunity to get outside and run off excess energy. It's Xmas eve here now, and also my brothers birthday. All the presents are wrapped so this evening will be all about relaxing (once we convince excited children to go to bed). Merry Christmas to all of you x
  11. I use a Patapum with my 11 month old, it's excellent. Can be used on front or back, on our recent trip to NZ we had 5 hours at Singapore airport and she was on my back most of that time loving being able to see what was going on. I also had one for my 2nd baby and used it to back carry until she was nearly 2.
  12. The younger they are the easier it is, you will be fine. I am currently in New Zealand, having flown here two days ago with a 6 year old, 4 year old and 11 month old baby - it was absolutely fine, and my baby slept a lot. Feed on takeoff and landing if you can (although I always find if the baby is asleep they don't seem bothered by the pressure changes). We flew when our oldest was just a couple of months old and he slept almost the whole way to NZ! Have fun.
  13. Useful, but an easy way for someone to use a dropped/stolen bank card?
  14. Are you on Vodafone? There's a known problem in SE22 (thread in the main section which should come up if you search).
  15. Baby Pickle and I would sign up for a baby class Sparkle! #2 can still be heard singing "green green, the grass is green" to herself , she loved your classes. Please keep me informed.
  16. At 14 months if she likes milk I would give her a bottle. Both of my big kids had milk in a bottle before bed till around 2.5/3, and when I stopped the bottles refused it from a cup. Just be sensible about it like another poster has outlined above - after milk brush her teeth before bed. I tend to take HV advice on this sort of thing with a very large pinch of salt! No delayed speech or tooth decay to report.
  17. Phew, I was worried I was the only one still watching (and sad enough to then post about it on here!). Well done to both the finalists, an impressive show after weeks of dubious results. I do think James was the strongest competitor tonight. Saturday and Sunday nights are once again my own. *breaks out in a cold sweat*
  18. Hooray :-)
  19. Sorry, I disagree, James Arthur for me, let's get it on... (super pleased that these two are in the final though, wouldn't have watched if Chris had got through)
  20. Are they all in one nappies? Getting a tight fit round the little legs is important so it might be the shape difference between your children necessitates a different type of nappy for your daughter (nuisance!). You could try putting a waterproof cover over the top for a few weeks, to see if the problem solves itself as she grows. Otherwise, add some boosters (depends a bit on the nappy brand as to how easy that is to do), "strip" them by washing without detergent, or I believe adding vinegar can help (have never had to do this with mine but have read it somewhere). Good luck x
  21. How old is your daughter Bee74?
  22. Huge market for it I'm sure, as long as there's a cr?che ;-)
  23. I am a mean Mummy, have always used the pin 'em down approach!
  24. The ones you take in pregnancy are also designed for use when breastfeeding.
