  6. thanks Renata thats useful- I will check where the nearest sub station is
  7. thank you- in seeing quite a lot of that on Google- im suspecting it may be a generator or pump of some type some distance away Seriously - there are numerous worldwide reports of low pitched hums. Sometimes it?s far away machinery, sometimes traffic and sometimes - nobody knows. Unfortunately I can?t help here but only sympathise.
  8. Is anyone else aware of a constant low pithed humming noise- is 24/7 in the Lordship Lane/Court Lane area ? Ive been hearing it for months and after excluding all household causes by switching off the power, I have been through a similar process with both my neighbours. Now, because its otherwise so quiet I realise I can hear it in the garden too....I did think it may be me or my hearing but my neighbour is being similarly troubled. any thoughts please ?
  9. "I agree that standing apart is a good idea, however 2m gaps will create very, very long queues." and will save lives.
  10. I am finding it very concerning that shops in ED and the Village are not enforcing social distancing in the queues outside. I dont want to call out any individual retailers but there seems to be a general pattern. My view is that they should be encouraged to mark two metres gaps on the pavement and allow one in one out ( I mean the small shops for that not the supermarkets.) Ive spoken to one retailer already about this and think more community pressure would be valuable . Not sure individual shoppers will socially distance unless directed
  11. I found a Bank card by the Actress pub on CP Road earlier today. Its a Barclays Debit account ending 852 If this is yours please PM me on here, I will need to check your name is the same as on the card before handing it over of course ! hope this finds its home
  12. A big thank you to the guy in the East Dulwich Dry Cleaners, who returned my twenty quid note to me having found it in my jacket pocket. I thanked him profusely but thought Id share this experience with the ED community. Ive only started using them recently and find them really cheery and helpful..Result....Their good deed = I will use them permanently
  13. No thats not what the implication is of this at all. What is being considered is concentrating services from certain line into one terminal so for example north kent lines into Cannon Street. There is no suggestion that the services from Victoria would be withdrawn but it may be that they are diverted to a different destination...each terminal gets the same amount of trains, and each route get the same amount but they are concentrated on one terminal. The Denmark Hill trains for example could be diverted via the Catford loop. Im not defending SE trains or the consultation, SE trains are dreadful and the consultation lack any real ambition for big improvements to make enhance the low level of service in SE London. I would like to see substantial infrastructure upgrades, starting with a grade separated junction at Herne Hill which would allow for more West Dulwich-Victoria Trains and more Tulse Hill-Thames link trains. As I say I am not defending them but I have read this consultation and there is no suggestion whatsoever in it that services to Victoria from Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye are to be withdrawn.
  14. Well said Penguin68 ! I totally support Southwark in enabling more burial spaces. I want to be buried locally as do a lot of other people. The Whole SSW thing is nonsense anyway. There never was or have been anything called 'Southwark woods.' We of course need to preserve and relish our green spaces, but not at the expense of much needed community facilities, In any case we are awash with green space around here, and are blessed with lots of parks, commons etc. Penguin68 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Burial on top of burial is absolutely common in > cities in the UK (other countries operate > different norms, for instance disinterment and > relocation into ossuraries after a limited time > (as little as 25 years) happens in some > countries). 15. It was with great sadness that I heard Ingrid Beazley passed away on Friday. Ingrid was the driving force behind the Dulwich Outdoor Gallery Project which brought so much vibrant street art to the walls of Dulwich. Our area is a brighter place because of the artists she enabled and encouraged to work on otherwise drab and uninspiring walls. Im sure you will join me in sending love and best wishes to Ingrid's family at this terribly sad time. A great source of inspiration and a vibrant energy in the community is no longer with us Stevie X
  16. does anyone know why lordship lane is closed between Court lane and Eynella road ?
  17. I delighted to let everyone know that Ava has been re-united with her family. She was found by some very kind dog walkers, huddling in a bush who then were able to contact Sara, who came over to collect her after a very anxious few hours,
  18. have nearly always kept mine in at night before but now I am imposing a strict curfew at 4. I really cannot take thr risk. Fortunately he does not like the cold weather so is not that bothered any way. I worry about him out during the day but he would go mad if locked in all the time and I dont think I can do that do him. Its such a worry and I like all the other people on here just want to to their best to look after our beloved pets.

  20. about time, their appalling mismanagement of ED leisure centre is so sad, A great facility allowed to run down. Broken equipment, non functioning air con, dirty toilets...the list is endless. I changed some time ago to use the gym at Crystal palace which is run by another organisation....since Ive been there not ONE bit of equipment out of action. enough said.
  21. Ive given up and gone elsewhere. When the facility was re-launched a few years ago it was great to have a brand new gym, but sadly due to incredibly useless & disinterested management, the facility is deteriorating. Coupled with other service issuess I decided I have had enough : Issues include 1) Drinking fountains rarely/never work 2) Aircon is next to useless 3) Equipment out of order for months on end 4) Most staff never acknowledge you or even look up from the reception desk as you arrive. 5) Rarely any hot water 6) Often no soap 7) Gym equipment is rarely if ever serviced therefore the touch screens do not work as they should For ?48.00 pounds a month plus I expect tax payer subsidy, this is not good value, and Southwark council need to urgently take note that this valuable asset is being appallingly mismanaged and is going to continue to lose customers unless so firm action is taken. I would be interested in comments from Councillor Barber.
  22. I think there is every need to let people know when there are services in the area which provide poor service. I do not know why your feel it necessary to sling personal insults (like a child). Shoddy service should be shouted loudly from the roof tops...that is one of the points of public forums..also you seem to have a humour/irony bypass ...'the worst post office in london ' is not meant to be literal. instead of slagging people off on here perhaps you should use your voice to argue for better services ..it might be more productive
  23. well may be thats the case, although thats not my understanding....So my question would be why Have I always been able to collect parcels for the last 24 years, never once has it been queried when I show my driving license ? Either everyone else is wrong.....or the Village post office has just discovered a rule book and enjoys using it as weapon on its dwindling amount of customers....either way the place is a grubby disgrace and needs closing
  24. that made me laugh after being furious .....thankyou :-D
