  1. hi I'm looking for a recommendation for a builder or labourer, with or able to hire an angle grinder, to cut a channel at the side of our house in a concrete path - the path should not be against the house and is causing damp. We need a channel filled with gravel instead. Not a big job, but would be grateful for someone tidy and who works to a good standard. Thank you
  2. hi absolutely the best children's entertainer is Gilbert Giggles, if you can book him in time, he's very popular. Highly recommended. http://www.gilbertgiggles.co.uk/ This website makes his style look more 'naughty' than I he is. He's completely wholesome and a lovely guy (Simon). My daughter and several of her friends had him year after year for their birthday parties..he's quite expensive, but worth every penny. Adults who need to be with young children will enjoy it just as much as the children.
  3. hi a thank you and recommendation for Pawel, who I found through the forum. Pawel saved me from a slow-running computer which was inhibiting my work. He replaced the hard-drive, so uninstalling and reinstalling everything within 24 hours, even working on the weekend. It was nerve-wracking to trust someone to do this, taking away a valuable item full of passwords, photos etc, but he was able to reassure me and I'm very pleased with the result. His number: 07595 679275
  4. hi everyone Just wanted to recommend Tony Rowley from A and M cleaning, based in Nunhead. They are a family business, also listed by Which? My relatively new stair carpet had suffered at the hands of a very careless visitor with a cup of coffee and Tony offered advice and treated the spot with specific removers for that specific stain, very different to off the shelf products. He is very polite, friendly and knows his stuff, it seems to me. He was also very fair with regards to pricing. Thank you, Tony. email: [email protected]
  5. hi I'm looking for a quick bit of help please for someone who is confident with a drill, and perhaps cabinet-making or precise wood-work. I have several antique cabinets, and need to just drill 5mm holes for internal shelf supports. I'm not confident with a drill and would love some help, payment for your time in cash as appropriate. Please PM me for details. In SE22. Thank you
  6. hi a belated recommendation for Niko the plumber, who I originally found through recommendations on the forum. He came out on a Sunday, the day I called him and installed a new cartridge in my expensive tap that had been leaking for a year (no problems since!) and came up with a solution for the waste water pipe from my washing machine that was cheaper and easier than suggestions from other people. He's very friendly too, likes to chat! Call - 07818 607583. I will be using him again.
  7. hi This a belated post to recommend to one and all, the wonderful Louise, based in SE15, who has been colouring my hair for two years now. Having tried what seemed like every colourist in the West End, even the priciest colouring stars, I could rarely get the natural brunette which Louise achieved the very first time. Visiting her live/work town house is an absolute pleasure, no trekking, and so relaxed, it's like a Red magazine photoshoot. Last summer on a sunny day, I sat in her pretty walled garden, hung with bunting, sipping Earl Grey tea with a magazine whilst my colour 'took'... you don't get that in a West End salon! She offers cuts/blow-drys etc too. Contact: Louise Huntley 07729904342.
