  2. If you get the 37 to Brixton and visit the Dogstar I hear the DJs there are incredible *cough* and it's open til 4am. ED - Liquorish / Adventure Bar have some kind of DJ on at weekends, depends what your 'thing' is really. Both get very packed and aren't really what I'd call 'nightclubs'.
  3. You'd think there was a recession on or something
  4. A Waitrose would attract some right nause-bags, and for that reason I'm out.

  6. An iMax. A guitar store. A Slug and Lettuce. A venue on par with somewhere like The Luminaire on LL A decent bar open til 2am with decent DJs

There might be a way of eating some of the pavement space for a dedicated lane down there, it's already at a premium in Peckham though.
  8. MMm - from a pedestrian's POV down there : 1) There are tons of buses to hide behind hence it's treacherous for all concerned. 2) they tend to only look out for buses, as that's all they expect to be coming down there. A different coloured section of road would be a good idea - like they have in Royal parks etc. I imagine there are a lot of near-misses down there, I've had near-misses with other cyclists even. Going up past Lidl dumps you in the annoying Bellenden one-way system so you're never going to encourage that route as an alternative for the majority..
  9. This contraflow already occurs unofficially so it seems right to legitimise it - the alternative for people is to go left up by Lidl to get to ED - and hardly anyone does. A clearly marked lane would be a good thing. The pedestrians down there are a little lemming-like though. Barriers would be one solution but then you really would have a danger of cyclists being crushed.
  10. The West End, near the Beeb. It follows the ED template quite closely. Loads of kids, delis and places to buy a cup of coffee for ?3.
  11. My worst cycling experience in London was near ED Tesco actually - I got chased for about 2 miles in a car by someone who'd cut me up and I'd had the audacity to bang on the side window of.
  12. Cycled that way for the best part of 6 years. Never had a problem and I go through the middle of the Aylesbury to avoid the OKR. 'Youths' have been doing this kind of thing since the 50s, I think you'll find.

  15. I was told by a cab driver that 'Tooting's where it's at' for that kind of thing... Most women I see near Goose Green have pushchairs.

  17. I think the OP said Nunhead.. and obviously he'd keep it real and drink in the The Pyrotechnist's Arms like a real man.

Ah, about the only place I didn't visit. Thanks. I associate them with wine, which wasn't really doing it for me on Monday morning...
  20. Hi all, long-time lurker, first-time poster etc - does anyone know of anywhere doing free Wi Fi in ED? Had something urgent for work the other day (our home one is being installed) and did the majority of Lordship Lane. As it was before 12 EDT / The Rye had yet to open, Cafe Nero offers er, a ?4 for 45 mins service and Blue Mountain / the other place on Northcross don't offer it. Ended up in Peckham Library on their painfully slow connection. Alternatively, maybe you could post details of any unsecured networks on your road and I'll come round in the car? ; )
