  1. Sorry, I can't remember, I've been inundated with texts inviting me to have this jab, and I made the appointment ages ago. But I get them because I'm ancient, not because of any serious medical condition. Maybe contact the surgery and ask? Yes, I got a sore arm with Moderna last year. I suspect it was Moderna I had this morning, so I've got the sore arm to look forward to. Hooray. I think it's Pfizer that you may now have to pay for?
  2. That would be very funny, but not quite in the spirit of the thing 🤣
  3. Thanks, I'll try again! Nope. Nothing. There is just a flu vaccine, on an "unknown date", and Pfizer from 2023 ETA 24/4: Thanks for this info, it is now showing on there as Spikevax/Moderna
  4. Well, I hope you will come anyway! 🤣 Ok, BNG, we will sort something out. Please spread the word! If anyone has suggestions for suitable pubs, please say. Things have changed so much! I think the first one I went to was at The Uplands Tavern, which is now The Actress.
  5. Crikey, Spartacus, you have a dim view of forum members! I remember the drinks as being quite decorous affairs, even on occasion - dare I say - boring. I remember one time in what is now the Victoria Inn but then wasn't (was it the Wishing Well?) Nygel and I deserted the room with the drinks to join the karaoke in the adjoining bar. We did a terrible rendition of some song, I can't remember what, but the bad memories linger 😂
  6. After 8pm they turn into something unspeakable 🤣
  7. Last time I looked they didn't have a shredder, and when I enquired I was told that they were in the process of getting new ones (I'm not sure why they couldn't have kept the old ones till they got the new ones - maybe they were broken). I was told to keep looking on their website. Hopefully it will be soon as I presently have masses of stuff I need to shred, and other methods of confidential disposal like soaking in the bath don't appeal at the moment! ETA 2 July: I don't know whether they ever got the new ones, but a kind person on here gave me one!
  8. Many moons ago, ED forum members used to meet up on a regular basis (I think monthly) in a different local pub each time to get to know each other and to have a chat over a drink. To help people like me who are rubbish at remembering names and faces, labels were provided! A space was reserved in the pub each time. If anyone would be interested in this (or else thinks it's a very bad idea!) , please either post on here or PM me. The ED demographic has greatly changed, and many of those original forum members have moved out of the area, so possibly this may no longer work for various reasons. My partner Nygel and I are happy to arrange the first one, but hopefully other people might step up to help after that, as we couldn't undertake to arrange them all on a regular basis, though we are happy to take turns.
  9. I would have asked, but I forgot! Just checked, and not only is today's jab not on there, which perhaps isn't surprising, but nor is last year's 😮
  10. It's a bit odd, isn't it? Apparently it could be either Pfizer or Moderna, and I've had both in the past, but I'd just like to know which it was this time. I guess my GP should know, if I wait a few days for the info to trickle through. But as I still kept getting reminders to have it long after I'd booked it, I don't have much faith in a joined up system.
  11. They certainly are, but I don't think they travel on tiny meteorites 😂
  12. Does anyone know what kind of COVID vaccine is currently being used locally? I've just had a jab, but I didn't realise till I got home that I hadn't been told what it was, and I had forgotten to ask. This was at the pharmacy at Tessa Jowell. Last time I had a jab was at the pharmacy opposite Nunhead Green, and they gave me a leaflet to take away with all the information.
  13. I have no interest in sport, apart from a mild interest in Wimbledon (only because I understand rules 😂) , but surely lots of pubs round here are still very busy after 8pm, and many pubs still show sport which isn't rugby?!
  14. Yes, I have had bad experiences with plants from Crocus in the past. I will have a look at Gardening Express, but I am wary about buying plants online, particularly if they use Royal Mail and might now take ages to actually arrive. ETA: I've just looked at Gardening Express, and I'm very impressed by the fact that they have a 5 year guarantee for perennial plants. That's extraordinary. I will definitely investigate further!
  15. We looked at all the options, and have in past years spent a fortune on cooking Christmas meals at home! But this was nearly £200 for two people for appalling food, without drinks, and I don't use the term appalling lightly. We needed somewhere within walking distance as I didn't want to drive on Christmas Day, and we had been to The Ivy House for festive drinks beforehand.
  16. I have had a fear of Pyrex plates since one was put down in front of me (with food on) in the seventies and suddenly it shattered into millions of tiny pieces 😮
  17. Surely measures need to be taken to prevent people from parking there, not just dissuade them? Or at least dissuade them by having a no parking sign and fining them if they ignore it? There were two cars parked there when I passed this morning on my way to the station. Surely they must be aware that they are not supposed to park there if they have to mount a curb to do so?
  18. Oh dear! I have had one in the past. Spines at the top would be fine, because it might deter the cats from jumping over the fence. I will try the cat deterrent fence topper as well.
  19. It does depend on the pub. The Ivy House, for example, does not allow under 18s after 8pm, accompanied or not.
  20. I was at Brockwell Park greenhouses very recently, they don't have any plants for sale which are suitable for my purpose (though that's not why I went there). I'd be very surprised if the Marsden Road place did either, as I need a fairly large prickly shrub! Thanks, I used the term nursery a bit too loosely, sorry. I did mean including garden centres. Your post is useful, thanks. I'm not looking for anything unusual though, just a prickly shrub to deter cats! Much as I love unusual plants, I only have a very small garden. Many of my plants (some unusual and some I had had for years) have disappeared due to wood pigeons trampling everything under my bird feeders in their quest to eat anything edible dropped by smaller birds using the feeders 😭
