Perhaps you're right macroban. I'm no train spotter but I was curious to know more. The timetable is dated 12 April 08 and shows Denmark Hill at 10.08 am which seems to tie in with joealessi's observation.
What is interesting, is the number of active steam trains that are in regular service up and down the country, with some departing/arriving at Kings X and Victoria. I had no idea. Think I'll take my boys up to Didcot or perhaps a trip on the historic Blackberry Line.

I think it was the Golden Arrow en route to Folkestone East.

What a fantastic achievement. Bet that felt good!

Then there's 'Under'ill Road', 'Bazzzano Street' and 'Hill-brow Road'.

I'm sorry seanmlow but if you stick your chin out and start a thread like this . . . well . . . pot, kettle, black.
"exposed by numerous TV documentaries", I can think of several EA's (2 local) that have been exposed in the media for underhand/illegal practices. How often do we read about brown envelopes, false offers etc.
"We are providing a SERVICE", many people trying to get on the ladder might disagree, as well as those who let their properties via EA's only to find a) no proper references done, and b) letting never properly managed despite hefty fees.
"ones who are angry are the ones who can't afford a nice house - or get a decent mortage", Can South London Press quote you?Any publicity is good publicity?

From a purely aesthetic point of view I think the Pickwicks Fiat 500's are quite pleasing on the eye but will probably be extremely un-cool within a year. The ugliest looking are the Ludlow Beetles. There were 4 parked on LL yesterday adding a touch of clone to the street. If it's illegal to drop a cigar butt on the pavement then surely that comes close to defecating in the gutter.

Is it just estate agents cars being branded that winds people up because the drivers are assumed to be odious, or does it apply to other tradesmen, telecom engineers, council vehicles and branded black taxi's, etc?

Sam Knows Broadband is a good resource if you want more info. Your closest exchange is probably the one on the corner of Firemans Alley and LL.

I use them. They were brilliant to begin with. Service levels have suffered a little since they became more popular (IMO) and I've had several technical issues with them in the last 6 months (all resolved) but none in the first year. Overall I'd still say they are very good and also pretty excellent value for money. I was originally on the 24 meg service but have now moved to be lite as I realised I didn't really need the 24meg speed. Use it for uploading large image files as well as playing PS3 online and it's absolutely fine. Big bonus is there is no cap on usage unlike most other ISP's so you can download music and films to your hearts content.
Edited to add that they're a subsidiary of O2. I think they were bought about 2 years ago.

But where is the debate? Le Penn gave the French a scare simply because people became apathetic and didn't use their vote. Perhaps people here also feel disenfranchised too. Or perhaps they can't be bothered to look beyond the right wing rhetoric and simply believe all the hysterical anti immigrant racist rants they hear.

And then there are those (like me) who sometimes stick to the basic rules and at other times, when the mood takes me, behaves like a jerkoff on 2 or 4 wheels. Sometimes I can be driving like an angel and then somebody elses driving can inspire me to be a git (apologies to the nob that got dragged down Morden High St).

My dad cracks me up when he says "Goan get da ting in da ting!" Yet somehow we always know what he means. Another fave is "Rice and peas!" (Said like OMG).

Camping - Morthoe in North Devon near Ilfracombe. Fantastic beach at Woolacombe and some great country pubs.
Abroad - try Budapest. Inexpensive, loads to do and see.

Dulwich Estates use the toll as a form of traffic congestion control* NOT as a revenue earner. Having said that the M6 toll works out at 16.7p per mile versus College Rd at ?1 for the 1 mile section. That's 6 times more expensive for a road that's in a pretty sorry state. However, the toll also goes towards the upkeep of many of the private roads on the Estate, so that's OK then.

I was at the Damilola Center just yesterday and was thinking that despite the campaign to stem the tide of kids getting stabbed, it seems to be getting worse. When will people wake up? I hope she's now reunited with her son.
