  1. Hi - I need to have my house touched up internally with paint. Just some of the walls. It has had tenants in and they have applied various blue tack/sellotape/screw holes etc which have left lots of marks all over the walls. Can anybody give me a rough quote so I can get an idea of costs please? I need this fairly rapidly for the inventory and then I can focus on the actual job. Kitchen wall 2m w x 3m h Kitchen wall (below internal window) 0.5m w x 1m h Hall wall 0.5m w x 1m h Hall wall 1m w x 0.5m h Bedroom 1 (downstairs) - Chimney breast wall - 1.5m x 1.5m Facing Wall - 3m w x 2m h Bedroom 2 (upstairs back) - Chimney Breast wall 1.5m h x 1.5m h Facing wall 3m w x 2m h Bedroom 3 (upstairs front) - Chimney breast wall - 1.5m x 1.5m Facing Wall - 3m w x 2m h Left Hand wall from door - 3m w x 2m h Many thanks

  3. From one of the many young families here in ED, the problem of going to the cinema isn't so much distance (we go to Peckhamplex or Greenwich Picturehouse) but more the issue of getting childcare. If you could somehow have a creche attached (which perhaps ran independently as well, which is well needed) or indeed a mini kids cinema creche e.g. you could leave them to watch a film whilst parents watched another one, I think you would be on to even more of a winner. The other thing ED is missing is a regular live music/comedy venue. The Hideaway in Streathham does well, one would be brilliant in ED. Maybe a venue that included all of these things depending on time of day and day of week. Paradiso used to run films above the Mag but they seem to have stopped so maybe that's a business case you want to study for the feasibility of actually making money. Also look at how the Tivoli independent cinema in Wimborne, Dorset did it. They are a huge success story, a brilliant local theatre rescued from the brink. Good luck. can we all come to the opening??? ;o)
  4. Yes they are held in Sep/Oct time and I believe you have to contact each school or look on their websites.
  5. Hi, to add some more information for anyone else who is interested, i have also found www.walterstaekwondo.co.uk that happens on a Weds evening in East Dulwich. They are the same people who run the Albrighton one.
  6. Excellent - thank you so much for the suggestions. I will look into them all. Thanks very much

  9. Brilliant thank you - that's a great bit of info about it being spread over min 3 days - no one has told me that but it makes everything make more sense. Thanks Fushcia, great help.
  10. Oh thanks for clarifying.= - you obviously know the system better than most. Do you know how one would calculate which nursery/preschool is the right financial option then? I am trying to get my son into somewhere now (he's 2.5yrs) but ideally when his funding kicks in, I would like him to stay but want the fees to be covered. My friend had her son in a private nursery for 2 days a week and had to pay top up fees. I suppose one has to ask at each individual nursery whether they are in the scheme or not and what extra costs there would be BEFORE you sign them up? Is that right? Thanks very much
  11. Hi - I was in the same confused state about the funding and how it works and in the end I contacted the Family Outreach Officer. Below is my email to her and Veronica's response and I am sure it will clarify things a little more for you: Hi, I have a query about the pre-school funding please and the website information doesn't quite give me my answer. I know 15 hrs are free for 38 weeks a year. I am trying to work out which pre-school or nursery to register my child at and wanted to know how it works if I put my child in a private nursery that obviously costs a lot more than 15 hrs at a preschool. Some pre-schools are telling me it's e.g. ?10 a session of 3 hours but a 3 hours session at a private nursery would costs perhaps ?30. Would Southwark pay the full amount for the session regardless of its cost or would I have to subsidise the additional amount? To work out what I can afford, I really need to know what's the maximum southwark will pay for? Then I can work out how much childcare I can get for that amount and register him at the one that is going to cover my required childcare hours within my budget. Can you help please? Thanks very much Family Info 13 Oct The local authority pays ?3.87 per hour. You will need to find out from individual private nurseries or pre-schools whether they charge a top up fee. Do you need a list sent to you? If so, please provide your post-code area. 12. Hi Tina, I wondered when Babble and Squeak will be starting back up? Is it on tomorrow (Fri 3 Sep), I know it has been sorely missed over the summer. Thanks Tina
  13. Get over your racists digs. The police are there to track down criminals and help keep the community safe. Stop giving them a hard time. If East Dulwich had any of the problems of its neighbouring constituencies then you'd have something to moan about. Whilst it remains to be a pleasant place to live with minimal criminal activity, be thankful we have police keeping it this way.
  14. Hi - does anybody know of a website that will tell me when is the best time to drink wine? We have 4-5 bottles of wine that we brought back from Australia to 'store' but we've been 'storing' (more like abstaining from drinking!) for about 5 years now and I'm fearful they will pass their best. Clearly knowing nothing more about wine than what I like and don't like, I am lost as to when one should drink them. E.g. one of the bottles that we have that I can't find on the web is a Mount Langi Ghiran Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2001 - it must have been nice when we tasted it but no idea now. Any pointers would help thanks.
  15. Hi, Has anybody lost a Quartz Urban Female Watch? Or know of someone who has lost a watch recently? I found it on Whateley Road about a week ago (last week in Nov 09). I won't describe it any more than that. If it's yours, get in touch and describe it to me and I will arrange to give it back. If there are no claimers, does anybody have any ideas how I can return it to its rightful owner? I thought about handing it in to ED Police Station but it seems a bit of a waste of their resources! Thanks
